Market News

Hello!
I hope that no one had any serious damage last night. All is fine here and I have not heard of any bad news from any of the other producers. I plan to be in the lower parking lot area at the church tomorrow.

Pig and Leaf has added 9 containers of pea shoots, plus there are two varieties of head lettuce available from Bountiful Blessings. Plenty of cheese, carrots, baguettes, cookies, sausages and other meats are still options on the Market page.

There are now 3 ways to buy eggs from Bountiful Blessings on the Market. One dozen is $6. If you buy 2 dozen, they are $5 each and if you buy 3 dozen, they are $4 each.

I’m hoping that the next Market will be March 15th..

Here is some information on how Fresh Harvest works.
*Orders can be placed without receiving the Sunday email. I try to open the Market between 7 and 8pm on Sunday. Sometimes I run a little late. Just go to the website: http://freshharvest.locallygrown.net/welcome to see if the Market is open.
*If you see an item as Sold Out, write in the Comment section at check out that you would like that item if more becomes available. We’ll try our best to add it to your order.
*PayPal payments have to be manually added to your account. There will be a delay to crediting your account due to me needing to take time to do the bookkeeping. I also have to go to each account with cash or check payments. These are sometimes delayed by procrastination or being busy. You can still place an order even though it may cause your account to be “overdrawn”. There is no penalty for going into the minus column. Sometimes I’m a little slow in getting to the bank to make deposits, but it eventually happens.
• If you recruit a new customer to Fresh Harvest and they open an account with a $50 deposit, we will credit your account $10 for each new customer who signs up. They will need to tell me your name, so that I can credit your account. Word of mouth has been our best advertising. Any help that you can provide is greatly appreciated.
• Every week, we leave orders at the church for customers who cannot arrive at Trinity before 6pm. This has worked well for those who have difficulty with the 4-6pm window. Please let me know if you need me to leave your order at the church.
• The bag that you receive each week is to be brought back with your next order. We have been negligent in telling new customers how this works. Don’t feel bad if you return multiple bags, it happens all the time.
• We’re into reusing and recycling. Our clean egg cartons, honey jars, paper and plastic bags, berry containers are some of the items that we can reuse. If we can’t reuse the returned items, we’ll recycle them.
• We do guarantee everything that we sell. If you ever have a problem, please let us know and we will credit your account.
• If there are other products or growers that you think should be a part of Fresh Harvest, please let me know.

Thanks for your support, and I will see you on Wednesday!

If you need to text me, my number is 615-838-0428.

Miami County Locally Grown:  Overfield School Gala!!

Thanks to long-time customer, Erin Barsotti, for sharing this opportunity from Overfield School in Troy!!

“Hello Friends!

Miami County Locally Grown community is a such a unique and valuable part of our community! My family and many of our friends participate, and we truly appreciate the delicious, unique, and care-filled products that we purchase on a regular basis.

Another place unique to our community is The Overfield School. It’s a school in Troy that serves toddler through second grade children. Our school shares many values with the Market community, a sense of the importance of local community and a (children) “can do” attitude being two of these. Students spend much time each day outside on our campus, at Hobart Preserve, and in the woods adjoining campus, wondering and learning in the natural world. They are also given a plethora of time for self-expression and exploration as they participate in student-initiated project work. Any child’s day at Overfield might include tapping Maple trees as part of the syrup-making process, working in the vegetable garden, clay work, or constructing with large appliance boxes.

Many of you have met my daughter, Luciana (Luciana’s Lovely Scrunchies), who embarked on a sewing and scrunchie-selling venture as part of the Market. She is an alum whose interest in and ability to follow through with a small business project can, in large part, be traced back to her early childhood experience at Overfield.

Attached is a letter explaining Overfield’s Gala for Growth, taking place on March 14. We are seeking products and “experiences” of any size for our silent and live auctions. Anything you might choose to contribute is much appreciated! In the past we have received donations of products, as well as baking, cooking, soap and other “making” classes, and tours. Again, thank you for the amazing products that you make available on the Market week after week and for your dedication to our local community!"

Sincerely,
Erin Barsotti

“Dear Sir or Madam,

Overfield is a school where joy, wonder and imagination foster life-long learning in preschool aged children. The Reggio Emilia philosophy supports our school’s mission to support self-discovery and creativity through a child-centered, responsive curriculum. A beautiful campus, committed teachers and a supportive learning community make Overfield a place where children bloom.

Why We Need Your Help: Unlike most other schools, Overfield receives no city, state, or federal support. As an independent school and non-profit,?501©(3) organization (ID#31-1088546), we must build our own support through fundraising activities. The Overfield School’s fundraising helps to provide engaging environments and experiences for young children that foster discovery, collaboration, independence and a joy for learning. An Overfield School Community Gala for Growth will be held on March 14th, 2020?with the purpose of raising money to install new playground equipment and natural play space that appeals to first, second, and third graders, and our summer campers. The money we raise will also support continued professional development for our teachers, which improves the quality of education for all Overfield children.

Please Consider a Donation:? Please consider donating an auction item or a gift certificate for your goods or services. If your services do not lend themselves to an auction, please consider sponsoring an auction item by making a cash donation. In the past, we have purchased bicycles, gift certificates, theater tickets and other great prizes on behalf of our sponsors.

All contributions made to The Overfield School Community Gala for Growth are 100% tax-deductible.

Please know that your donation will directly impact the Overfield students and the greater community. On behalf of all Overfield families, we thank you for your willingness to help make our gala a success. We greatly appreciate your time and consideration. We feel very fortunate to have Overfield in the Miami Valley, and are reliant on generous businesses such as yours to support our school as we grow.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. To learn more about our wonderful school and community, please visit www.overfield.org?or call to schedule a visit to see our great school in action! We’d love to invite you to join us at The Overfield School Community Gala for Growth on March 14th. Please contact The Overfield School to purchase tickets!"

Sincerely,
The Overfield School
