If we are NOT notified, your order will be donated and you will be invoiced for the amount of your order. We still need to pay our Growers for their products.

Weblog from a few of our Grower’s:

Keep a watch out….Strawberries are starting to make an appearance from several of our Growers, look in Fruits and Fruit Juice Catagory and scroll down to Strawberries. Best taste of Spring and a wonderful start to a whole new growing season.

Quarter Spring Farm: has as flight of fulgent eggs from our flock of free-range laying hens. We also have a scintillating stockpile of skin softening soaps, and a bevy of bold balms to cure your various ailments. We are lamentably low in stock on our chicken products, so load up your electronic carts while they are still available. And yes, I did get a thesaurus for Easter this year.

Bean Man: This week we have Gluten Free Cassava Flour Bread and Coconut Flour Bread in a loaf version. Both are great short bread loaves baked using our fresh flours and other ingredients. Look for them in the Baked Products category. In the coming weeks look for our Sourdough Bread in both a Vegan version and a version using eggs. As we mentioned last week, we won’t have the breads available every weekend but will have them for you as we are able. These will be a Stones River Market only offering.

We also have our Fresh Dry Beans, Mixes, Scottish Oatmeals, Gluten Free Flours and Ready to Mix products including 5 different Pizza Crust Mixes available for you to enjoy a healthy and delicious diet.

Berea Gardens:  Good morning.....Market open

Hi All,

I am opening early today so I can lend a hand to my brother from another mother and fellow grower, Terry Hudson. Terry runs a CSA in Charleston: http://hudsonfarmswv.com/

Our dear Melody and Tim Urbanic (Bop & Nana’s) have also scheduled their “Second Sunday” farm to table dinners for this summer. The first will be on Mother’s Day. Be sure to ask her about reservations.

Circle S will be here this week with their natural meats.

Enjoy this beautiful day, and we hope to see you Wednesday.

Blessings,
Bob & Lynnita

Miami County Locally Grown:  Order tonight to pick up this Tuesday!

Shop here

The Market will be open until 9:00 tonight, and we still have some kale and microgreens, as well as all your meats, baked goods, eggs, and syrups. I appreciate the support of MCLG’s loyal customers, and so do the farmers/producers! You could buy elsewhere, but you choose us :-) and that keeps your dollars in your local economy, not a massively wealthy food (often faux) company.

Don’t forget about our next Night Market on May 3rd here at First Place. We’ll have the Virtual Market pickup in the same room as the Night Market, just like last time. See you all in a couple days!

Dothan, Alabama:  M@D April 23 Newsletter - VIP INFO, No Ordering this Week

We are NOT OPENING for orders this week. We will reopen next week, Saturday April 30 at 5pm
VIP – pickup for April 30 – May 3 orders will be SATURDAY May 7 at Open House
Please read note below

GROWER & MARKET NOTES

While we announced it April 9, with all the Easter hustle and bustle we neglected to mention in last week’s newsletter that M@D is holding to a bi-weekly schedule until Open House on May 7.. There are several things that factored into this decision:

1. Several vendors are not listing product till they heal from injuries. This means less yummy selection to order from.
2. More vegetables soon, we promise!
3. Gas Prices

We’re thankful to hear that Viki (Richter Farms) and Kathy (Grows In Rows) are improving and know they will return when the time is right. And those veggies over at Avalon aren’t getting smaller! We have it on good authority Avalon will have lettuce next week.

We’re all using this time to be still and know, to renew, to grow and maybe even plant something else.
Hopefully you are too! And if you are caring for things in your own soil let me throw some ideas your way.

  • Dothan Nurseries has a great selection of vegetables including potato and onion sets . . . and asparagus!!!! If you’re into herbs like your market manager consider horseradish too. It’s also a perennial that comes back year after year.
  • Don’t get carried away with the latest garden fads as illustrated below. With the World Wide Naked Gardening Day being one week from today just . . don’t. While the technique is safe and even sustainable it’s not necessarily effective and might not be legal.

Just Saying.

gardening-psa
  • Invest in a citronella plant. Scrappy Chic says moving potted ones to where they’re working or relaxing outdoors cuts down on the need for insect repellent. Potting them also means they can be moved indoors during winter freezes.
  • Odd containers are a lot of fun. Recently my grandsons had a fit over a plastic dump truck hauling a load of succulents I had pinched from around the house.
  • A little color can go a long way. We were so smitten by the Gerbera Dasies at Dothan Nurseries yesterday a couple followed us home.

Market stays open from Fridays 9 p.m. until at least 9 p.m. Mondays!

Thank you for choosing Northeast Georgia Locally Grown as a way to support your local producers. This online farmers market allows you to buy directly from multiple farms committed to chemical-free and local produce all year long! CHEMICAL-FREE means produce and pastures grown without synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, or insecticides. LOCAL means within 80 miles from the market pickup locations (usually much much closer). Do you know someone who grows chemical-free food in the area? Get them in touch with us. Know someone who wants fresh food? Spread the word. Put the two together, and that’s growing organically!

PICKUP TIME is Wednesday from 5-6:30 p.m.

If you do not get an email ORDER CONFIRMATION right after you order then your order is NOT complete. Log back in and your order might still be there waiting for you to check out! If you have any trouble or questions at all, we are here to help; simply reply to this email.

COVID19: Thanks for recognizing we can all do our part in operating in the safest way possible. Be on the lookout for the order reminder email with any changes to pickup or ways you can help minimize risk for our volunteers and each other. Thanks for your support!*

Martin's Farmstand:  Greenhouse arugula, and garlic scallions, and chives

The farm stand is open tomorrow (Saturday, April 23) from noon till 5 pm. New items that will be at the market tomorrow are greenhouse arugula, and garlic scallions, dandelion greens and chives from outside. The asparagus harvest is expected to begin in about 2-3 weeks. This is, of course, weather dependent as we need warmth for it to grow. The overwintered spinach survived (outside, no protection) exceptionally well and I am expecting an abundance of spinach to be ready for harvest at about the same time as the asparagus is ready.
