Growing Together :  Growing Together - Time to Order! Get Your Greens On!

LINK TO ORDER: http://growingtogether.locallygrown.net.

Huge thanks to all for your support! The weather is heating up, and it is time to enjoy all the wonderful greens while we have them!

We’ve got lots of everything this week. If you haven’t yet tried the Joi Choi, we encourage you to do so! It is really versatile, great raw or cooked, with a juicy stem and a mild, slightly peppery cabbage taste.

Some highlights this week include:

  • Head Lettuces – especially that wonderfully crunchy Romaine!
  • Joi Choi – nice size
  • Tatsoi
  • “Chinese” (Mei Quing) Bok Choy, a small variety with a lovely green hue
  • Beautiful cilantro, dill, and fresh fenugreek leaves!
  • A variety of radishes – the colors look great together

The market is open from Friday evening until Monday at noon each week. Restaurant orders will be delivered on Tuesday afternoon and all other orders will be available for pickup at The Nashville Food Project’s California kitchen on Wednesday evening at the farm stand or Thursday all day. Orders are filled on a first come, first serve basis. If we are out of an item, please let us know in the comments section of your order and we will do our best to fill your request.

In this market, you’ll find products offered from the Growing Together collective as well as from individuals farmers in the Growing Together program. All of our products offered are grown using natural, sustainable methods. No chemicals are used on the vegetables we offer you through our market! You can read more about the Growing Together farmers on the “Our Growers” page.

Thank you for supporting Growing Together!

Thanks for shopping with us! Find lots of fresh, delicious, local fruits, vegetables, fresh herbs, eggs, milk, butter, goat cheese, seafood, shrimp, beef, and pork. We also have items that are already prepared and ready to eat, made from local ingredients.

Fisheads lettuce is back!

Strawberries, Asparagus, Squash, Carrots, and Sweet Onions are coming in now – look for them from Jacobs Produce.

Did you know that Market2Go has items for your pets? You can find pet food, bones, Wagz Dog Treats, and pet grade raw goat milk from Bootleg Farm.

Bootleg Farm and Southern Swiss Dairy both have their products online on Market2Go. They are no longer regulars at the Saturday Market, so look for them here!

Remember we have changed locations for our Statesboro pickup to the Statesboro Convention & Visitors Bureau at 222 S. Main St. Hours will remain the same, and our Sylvania pickup will remain the same at Victory Garden General Store.

Click to read about our exciting changes. We eliminated the annual membership fee and in its place — because we have to maintain support for the market — we instituted a surcharge of 7% on each order, beginning on March 1st.

Visit the Statesboro Main Street Farmers Market this Saturday for some Plum Good Eating. Marcus Toole will be at the Market giving out plums, giving general information about plums, and how to grow them here in South Georgia

Our featured vendor this week is B&G Honey Farm, a local honey farm in Register since 1989. They have pure, raw wildflower honey that can be found at the Saturday market, on Market2Go, and at their honey shack at 945 Sinkhole Road in Register. They will have their bees with an observation hive at the Saturday market on May 18th. Come watch the bees!

Champaign, OH:  The Chain

Listen to the wind blow
Down comes the night…
(Fleetwood Mac…The Chain)

I was just sitting on my back deck, listening to the sounds of the wind, feeling the change in temperature, watching the clouds mingle up with the moon, and enjoying a glass of wine, when these lyrics popped into my head.

But, how appropriate when I sang the song, in my head, perfect with the night wind, and perfect for thinking of the chain of this market, and how it flows.

This month marks our seventh year in existence to his lovely little community, and it takes a chain of vendors, customers, the managers, and the Y, to make it all happen. Each week, you all return, handing us your orders, allowing us into your lives, your homes, your dining plans, with our products.

This market thrives on the chain…always strong links, always vibing along…

The market is opening for the week!

Your vacation mode producers for this week are myself, Hippie and the Farmer, and the BARKERY.

But, all your other favorites are here, waiting to continue the chain…

XOXO,
Cosmic Pam
