Dothan, Alabama:  May 11, 2109 M@D Newsletter

We are open to accept orders.
Orders close Tuesday at 5pm
If you’re wondering about that “M@D” bit, its only about good healthy food!
Market at Dothan uses the word “Sustainable” over “Organic” because you can grow organic without being sustainable, but you cannot be sustainable without utilizing organic practices.

CARROTS

Danny’s beautiful carrots have been selling out every week – and with good reason as they’re the most healthful and delicious you can get in the Wiregrass, at least at this time! Danny’s non certified organic beds are hand tilled and hand tended from start to finish for all his products and you can really taste the difference. So this week, while they’re still available we pay homage to the carrot, a versatile and sometimes underappreciated staple of the human diet.

MARKET CHITCHAT

Thank you to everyone who came out to Open House this week. We home you had fun. Market at Dothan will be back to our regular schedule starting with this newsletter complete with Daleville and Enterprise Deliveries!

While summer is not “officially” here it may as well be past solstice in the Deep South as Blackberry Winter is past and our days are consistently warm. Spring was cooler for longer than usual which has made things quite interesting for farmers and beekeepers alike! We’re looking forward to plenty of yumminess in the coming weeks.

Upcoming plans are to continue normal operations through the summer months with one small break in July. A monthly Fall Farmer’s Market will start in September.

New & Relisted Products

  • Vanilla Oatmeal Shea Butter from St. Andrews Soap Company
  • Ready to Use FRESH Tumeric Powder from Sweet Acre Farms
  • Hawthorne Berry Tincture from Mayim Farms
  • Endive
  • Thyme
  • Peppermint
  • Little Gem Romaine

Thank you for choosing Northeast Georgia Locally Grown as a way to support your local producers. This online farmers market allows you to buy directly from multiple farms committed to chemical-free and local produce all year long! CHEMICAL-FREE means produce and pastures grown without synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, or insecticides. LOCAL means within 80 miles from the market pickup locations (usually much much closer). Do you know someone who grows chemical-free food in the area? Get them in touch with us. Know someone who wants fresh food? Spread the word. Put the two together, and that’s growing organically!

PICKUP TIME is Wednesday from 5-6:30 p.m.

If you do not get an email ORDER CONFIRMATION right after you order then your order is NOT complete. Log back in and your order might still be there waiting for you to check out! If you have any trouble or questions at all, we are here to help; simply reply to this email or call Andrew at 770.530.3287

Statesboro Market2Go:  The Market is Open!

Thanks for shopping with us! Find lots of fresh, delicious, local fruits, vegetables, fresh herbs, eggs, milk, butter, goat cheese, seafood, shrimp, beef, and pork. We also have items that are already prepared and ready to eat, made from local ingredients.

Strawberries, Asparagus, Carrots, and Sweet Onions are coming in now – look for them from Jacobs Produce.

Did you know that Market2Go has items for your pets? You can find pet food, bones, Wagz Dog Treats, and pet grade raw goat milk from Bootleg Farm.

Bootleg Farm and Southern Swiss Dairy both have their products online. They are no longer regulars at the Saturday Market, so look for them here!

Don’t miss Prosser’s Seafood first fresh-caught Georgia shrimp of the season!

Remember we have changed locations for our Statesboro pickup to the Statesboro Convention & Visitors Bureau at 222 S. Main St. Hours will remain the same, and our Sylvania pickup will remain the same at Victory Garden General Store.

Click to read about our exciting changes. We eliminated the annual membership fee and in its place — because we have to maintain support for the market — we instituted a surcharge of 7% on each order, beginning on March 1st.

The Statesboro Main Street Farmers Market is celebrating Mother’s Day with edible flowers at the seasonal eating booth!

Our featured vendor this week is WilMor Farms, a specialty cut flower farm located in Candler County, Georgia on 7th generation family land. They are committed to providing high quality, locally grown flowers utilizing sustainable farming methods. Their flowers are certified American Grown and they are members of Georgia Grown, Slow Flowers, and The Association of Specialty Cut Flower Growers. Their beautiful bouquets can be purchased at the Saturday market or on Market2Go.
