Dothan, Alabama:  Special COVID-19 M@D Newsletter

To our Friends -

In last Saturday’s newsletter we mentioned that so much changed in a week . . . that’s no longer the case because of all the changes that have happened TODAY!

Last Saturday we were asked if we would close. I stand by the original answer that we will if we need to. After thinking long and hard about what it means to “love thy neighbor” we are staying open for the foreseeable future. As much as your Manager would love to just bunker down isolation is not what serving and loving our neighbors looks like, at least at this time.

Being a very small business definitely has its advantages for M@D. We don’t exceed the government’s “10 or less” group guideline during the few hours on Friday when we actually see each other. Our growers and producers are already extremely safety conscious and we’re implementing additional protocols for both customer and Market staff safety.

So here’s what you can expect:

1. Curb service. We prefer you pull up to the Market Shed rather than get out. It’s not that we don’t want to see you, we would just rather go overboard to protect all of us. So stay in your car and be patient with the person ahead of you if need be.

2. Plastic Bags. We’re dispensing with reusable bags for the foreseeable future. If you would like your fabric or plastic bag to take home for cleaning on Friday please shoot us a message at [email protected] so we can have yours ready. We LOVE packing your orders in them but again, we’re going overboard here.

3. Please consider voluntarily prepaying your Market order online. As a bit of history, we chose years ago not to enable online payment as it would prohibit some of our vendors from participating in the Market. Now it appears to be a good idea! Voluntary prepayment would eliminate touching plastic (where the virus can live 3-4 days) or paper (where it can live up to 24 hours). Our payment url is paypal.me/MarketAtDothan for those who wish to help this way. Please do so by 6 pm on Thursday so we can mark your invoice.

4. We’ll be using hand sanitizer like crazy and disinfecting everything possible in the Market Shed where your orders arrive and are packaged.

5. Lastly – if you’re up to it take advantage of the Nursery before you pick up your order. Get out and walk around. Fresh air is good for you and the weather is so lovely this week. You don’t have to touch anything and may find something that lifts your spirits. That’s important. The nursery staff are some of the most caring people you’ll ever meet and won’t crowd you. Even with social distancing human interaction is still good for our souls. Who knows, getting some sunshine might just help keep you well!

So that’s it. As always we enjoy hearing from you and welcome input, ideas, etc. Serving you is a privilege and a joy we don’t take for granted.

Ros Horton
Market Manager

We thank you for your interest and support of our efforts to bring you the healthiest, the freshest and the most delicious locally-produced foods possible!

Champaign, OH:  Vendors Showing The Love

Here are a few vendors who are offering a delivery/and, or pick up!

Kennedy Farms can offer delivery of pasture raised eggs. They only need to contact me via [email protected]. I have the ability to process cards and offer a no contact delivery protocol. Let me know if you need any more info.

Best
Stephanie Kennedy

From The Stadlers:
We would welcome people to buy directly from our farm. We just finished bottling this year’s syrup and it is beautiful and tasty. I have not updated quantities on the site, but we now have everything in stock. People can call Marc directly to arrange a pickup. 937-215-0329.

Thank you.
Shary

From Oakview Farm Meats:

Mark has put together an menu of his meats, and local products! You can call or message your orders to him, take advantage of many local vendors, in one order, and if it’s over 50.00, the delivery is free.
This would also include Cosmic Charlie, and Hippie and the Farmer, along with many other products!

I will continue to update vendor love…

Champaign, OH:  IMPORTANT UPDATE

I am so sorry, my lovelies…I was too fast, and too hopeful in my last Weblog.

Paul from the YMCA just called me to inform me that the governor has now shut down all rec centers, childcare, day care…so, the YMCA will now be on mandatory shut down.

Which means the market will be following the same protocol…I am so very sorry. We had a meeting of the minds via his phone call, and we just cannot run the market, take payments, or pay vendors, without the YMCA systems!!

So, until further notice, and with such a very heavy heart, we will be suspending the market, and all orders placed, will now be cancelled.

I will be updating, via this weblog, what vendors you can contact to place orders for a direct delivery/pick up with them.

I’m your girl, and I want to keep you informed…

I love you, and this market, more than words can say…

XOXO,
Cosmic Pam

Champaign, OH:  And, She's Back...

…to the new normal…

Hello, lovely market customers! I just returned from my vacation! Happy to report that in my travels, there was nothing crazy, all good vibes, calmness, and a sense of keeping steady in the midst of making sense.

That is what I want for this market. To continue on our usual, lovely path, bringing you the best foods, products, and attitude during this new time. I know that none of us have the answers, and I am certainly not the girl to try to be the expert. I can only bring you a ray of sunshine, and this lovely market.

At this time, the YMCA is still operating, so we will plan to continue on our usual course of market pickup. IF you feel that you would rather not enter the YMCA, at pick up, we are giving you a choice, to simply call me…937-926-4833, once you arrive, at the YMCA front entrance, and we can bring your order to your car, where we can also collect payment, if you do not have a card on file with the YMCA.

Choices are good, and only you know which way you feel most comfortable with. So far, things will remain as usual.

I super appreciate the orders that have come in, thus far, and want you to continue to order up! Think about stocking your freezers, your pantries, your refrigerators, and your life…and, don’t forget to order that little things, like candles, to perk up your moods!

We are here for you…keeping the lovelight on…

XOXO,
Cosmic Pam

Siloam Springs, AR:  Online Market is Open!

www.siloamsprings.locallygrown.net

Good morning! I want to reassure you that we are closely monitoring information regarding COVID-19. We will continue our online market and as always we are committed to the health and safety of our customers.

There are two whole chickens left to purchase so if you’re needing some healthy, pastured chicken to add to your meal planning now is the time to get them. They are large birds but that means they will make several meals for your family plus you’ll have the bones for broth.

Lots of kale and lettuce available as well as spinach, bok choy, turnips and turnip greens, and more.

Please remember to wash your veggies as part of the process to prepare them for your meals.

Be sure to check out the amazing selection of breads and baked goods and don’t forget eggs, pecans, and honey!

I would like to encourage everyone to consider paying online or by check when you pick up. SNAP benefits and Cash will always be accepted.

See you Saturday!

Middle Tennessee Locally Grown:  Restocked Pork From Two Farmers!

Middle Tennessee Locally Grown market

is open for your orders till Tuesday evening at 10 pm.

Under Butchers:
Pork

More Weaver Farms pork cuts are back! Four flavors of Sausage Links and five of Breakfast Sausage are now available under the farm name. Sorry, no pictures – we are far too busy getting new cuts processed for you.

New “small batch” pork offerings from Sow’s Ear Piggery:

Our 3 little pigs went to market and produced some very tender “small batch” cuts now available.

Excellent ground pork. Minimal seasoning needed. We also have petite chops, for quick skillet dinners. Cutlets are another stove-top favorite. Shoulder steaks for a savory “low and slow” meal.

As always, our pork comes from heritage breed pigs raised outdoors on a non-GMO, non-corn, non-soy diet.

We have more products to add soon! But given the small batch, they won’t last long.

Click here for the complete list of available fresh local farm products for this week.

Under Growers:
Live Plants

Brighten your day or someone else’s with a bouquet of spring Daffodils from Dogwood Valley Greenhouse, some with special colors. Flowering Almond Shrub is in bloom and Euphorbia or Spurge, the very unusual green-flowered ‘St. Patrick’s Day Plant’, as I like to call it, is just coming into bloom.
