GFM :  Welcome to February!

New Vendor Spotlight: McKinnon Woodcrafts by Vergil McKinnon

New to 2021 is McKinnon Woodcrafts. He and his daughter make unique wood items and quilled earrings. He uses different hardwoods and even combines multiple ones for beautiful effects. He loves to tell the stories behind his items and where he sources his materials. Some are made from repurposed barn materials! He gives new life to old wood that would otherwise be lost to the ravages of time.

He has wooden baskets, trivets, spoon holders, jewelry boxes, etc. As well as earrings made out of hardwood, geometric shapes, animal shapes etc. And they’ve just been added to the online market this week! Pictured below are just a few of his available items.

Martin's Farmstand:  Free turnips or daikon radish today

The farm stand is open this afternoon from 12:30 pm till 5 pm. There are still lots of carrots, potatoes, squash, beets, sweet potatoes and more. The bulk food room is freshly restocked.
We still have a few hundred pounds of turnips and daikon radish. The expected storage life for these items ends sometime February or early March and I would rather see them used than just wasted. We will be giving a few of either of these items to any person the wishes for some. (No purchase required.) Come and get it. Daniel

Once again, a HUGE thank you to all who ordered from this week’s market!! You were all so lovely, this evening, at pick up, and even though it was so very cold, you all had smiles on your faces!!

I am getting ready to enjoy my own Cosmic Roasted Tomato soup for dinner, and a lovely glass of wine!

The market is open, again, for orders, and I look forward to the next trivia winner, and all of your orders!

Stay warm…

XOXO,
Cosmic Pam

Champaign, OH:  It's Market Day!!

Good morning, lovely market customers!!

This is just my reminder that today is market pick up day, and you once again blew it all up with such enormous love!!

You may pick up your orders, between 4pm-6pm! If you are a Friday pick up/delivery, I’ve got you on the books! If you need a Friday pick up, please let me know, and you can pick up between 10am-12pm!

If you are new, this week, and there are several of you, you have the option of phoning me, ahead of time, with payment information that I will keep on file for future orders!

If you do not want to pay by card, you can bring a check made out to Oakview Farm Meats, or cash, in a ziplock bag, with your name! Please have exact change because it takes time if I have to leave the line, to make change, and it also takes time if you are handing me your card, in line…thank you, so very much!

Thank you, everyone, who started flooding my email with the answers to this week’s Cosmic Trivia!! We did have a winner!!

Long time market customer, Michelle Poston-Peters!! She and her adorable daughter have been supporters of the market since we opened the doors/internet to the market, 10 years ago!!

The answer to the trivia question was….Madison’s Downtown Cafe, and the second answer was the owner, then, Summer Woodburn, also heads up her own little group of vendors, here on the market, 4 Hens and a Rooster!

Ok…get ready for more exciting trivia, and a chance to win your very own Cosmic product!

XOXO,
Cosmic Pam

Grumpy Goat:  Where has January Gone!!!

We hope everyone is having a lovely winter. We are gearing up to start tapping maple trees whenever the weather decides to turn, and will be planting our onions inside this week! Secretly I’m hoping it will stay cold for another month…but I’m not sure I’ll be so lucky.

The market is open for ordering this week! The chickens continue to amaze us with a bounty of eggs so please come and get some! We have begun to offer our ‘little chicks’ the option to go outside this week – as they are no longer so little. So far they just stand in the doorway and look out into the big wide world, unable to take the leap onto the grass.

I have listed a new batch of Hot Pepper Jam – made this week, with our own organic bell, jalapeno, and cayenne peppers.

There will also be new soap added weekly. Matt was nice enough to gift me a beautiful soap cutter and make a couple loaf molds recently. My goal is to have new offerings each week. This weeks new bars include:
100% coconut oil,
Goat Milk Lemon Eucalyptus,
Goat Milk Almond Oatmeal,
Goat Milk Orange Patchouli Rosemary Hearts,
Goat Milk Heart Bundles,
and Goat Milk Citrus Explosion.

And our Soap Sale continues with what remains from our 2020 soap. The bars are still perfectly good but going at a discounted rate to make way for the new varieties!!!

Old99Farm Market:  Week of 24 January 2021

Did you know that the store bought produce and meats boughten weekly that come from warmer climates carry a carbon footprint equal to driving your car non stop for 4 months? Look at how many people shop on a weekly basis – pretty scary when we add all that up.
When you buy produce, and meat from Old 99 Farm the carbon footprint is greatly reduced due to the simple fact that its picked fresh, not shipped anywhere, not refrigerated in massive coolers and very little fossil fuels are used to plant, maintain and pick it all.
When you buy from the farm, you help the environment and its a win-win for everyone.

Available this week – frilly green kale, Swiss chard, collard greens, spinach, arugula, health kick salad, our super sweet carrots, delicious squash and a few other favorites. Check out the product list to see what is available this week!

Plenty of beef, pork and chicken available as well.
The ground beef has been flying out the doors, get yours before its all gone! Great for meat balls, pasta sauces, stuffed peppers, meatloaf, stroganoff, sausage patties, Salisbury steak or the classic favourite char-broiled hamburgers.

Please place your order before 11am Thursday. Orders placed after thus time may not be processed.
Order pickup times are Thursday and Friday from 4PM to 6PM.

We thank you all for your continued patronage and support of the farm.

Be well friends,
Nick & Angela
Ian & Cami
