Numerous delicious and useful items on the Market but here is:
News from some of Our Growers:
Mama D’s Bakery: Hi everyone! We have added Mocha Muffins this week! With a coffee base and gooey chocolate chips they are a delicious grab and go breakfast or a yummy snack anytime. We also have everything else available this week too. We have Chocolate Swiss Roll, Cinnamon Rolls, Caramel Apple Cinnamon Rolls, Blueberry Lemon Yeast Rolls, banana breads and pumpkin breads(with the option of nuts or not), bagels(plain, cinnamon raisin, blueberry, and everything), donuts(cake and yeast), cheese Danishes, pies(chocolate fudge, pecan, chocolate chip pecan, pumpkin and sweet potato), cookies, granola and protein bars, breads, and fruit scones. Thanks so much to everybody for your business!
Carole Herbs (CS3 Farm): We have ginger fig shrub concentrate, Scarborough Fair Mustard, winter lettuce salad mix, Sprouts, and pea shoot microgreens.
Use our shrub concentrates as a refreshing drink, mixer, or salad dressing. Scarborough Fair Artisan Mustard has just the right amount of tang with the expected blend of parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme. Our winter lettuce mix is a blend of soil-grown seasonal greens, including a variety of lettuces and baby kale, spinach, radicchio, endive, and other tender green leaves, as available. Our sprouts and pea shoot microgreens do well on sandwiches and in salads or even stir fry, and have way more nutrients than most other green vegetables.
Spring Meadow Farm: Welcome Back, this week they have Collard Greens, Fresh Farm Eggs, Kale, Purple Kohlarabi and Strawberry Preserves.
C&M Valley Farm: We have Broccoli Greens, Fresh Farm Eggs, several types of Wool, check back we are hoping to add few more items.

RnR Farm:
We are happy to back with a great selection of our lettuce this week, Butterhead, Green Leaf, Red Leaf, Romaine Trio and Lettuce Blend. So you know we never use synthetic chemicals or pesticides on our property and all of our produce is grown in the ground, using the fewest inputs possible.

Mix into meatloaf or burger patties to add an extra depth of flavor without necessarily adding bulk or texture. Sprinkle in pasta sauces for added depth of flavor.

GROWER & MARKET NOTES
If you enjoy baking bread you’ll love an article Richter Farms came across last week. A team of researchers performed DNA sequencing on 500 sourdough starters from four continents. The findings were interesting to say the least! Click HERE for the full article.

Last week we shared CREAMY TACO SOUP with you. It turns out that the broth/cream cheese combo supports a lot more than just southwestern flavors. One person modified the recipe and got a big surprise when the Mr. of the house actually complimented a dish with collards. It’s crazy what a little kitchen imagination can do! Without further adieu . . .
CREAMY COLLARD SOUP
This is a keto/low carb recipe!
1 lb ground meat
1/3 lb bulk hot sausage
1 medium chopped onion
1 bunch collards, washed and shredded or chopped
1/3 head cabbage, shredded (savoy type works especially well)
1 8 oz brick cream cheese, softened
½ tsp Thyme
½ tsp Parsley
2 ½ quarts Beef Broth
Salt and Pepper to Taste
1. Brown meat and onions
2. Add 2 quarts broth, collards, cabbage, thyme and parsley. Bring to boil then simmer till vegetables are soft.
3. Use an immersion blender to blend cream cheese with reserved broth. Add to soup mixture Continue heating on low till it simmers. Do not boil and do not continue cooking or it will affect the taste of the cream cheese. Salt and pepper to taste.
4. Serve with gladness.
We thank you for your interest and support of our efforts to bring you the healthiest, the freshest and the most delicious locally-produced foods possible!

Champaign, OH: Shelter From The Storm
‘Twas in another lifetime, one of toil and blood
When blackness was a virtue the road was full of mud
I came in from the wilderness, a creature void of form
“Come in,” she said, "I’ll give you shelter from the storm"
(Bob Dylan)
Well, happy early Saturday, and welcome to what sounds like the big snow storm of the past year. Coming our way. Getting everyone into a state of panic.
But, no panic is needed, here. We’ve got it ALL for you! All that you need for the week!! With no hassle, no need to go out and risk the crowds. The best products, given to you with love, and smiles. Our own shelter, to you, from the storm.
And, we also have seen the addition of a few new items, this week…
Chuck Lippincott brings us his new creamed honey! He also spun his magic with a cinnamon creamed honey! I sampled it, last week, and it is sooooo yum!!!
Oakview Farm Meats has added a couple of meat bundles!! Always perfect for stocking your freezer, no matter what the crazy weather is!
And, we say hello to a new vendor, old friend, supporter of the local scene….Ryan Hostetler!! Ryan also had, St. Ives Winery, out in Cable, with his wife, and they have always been total fans of what’s goin’ down in the market, and around.
He brings to us his own dried spice, in two different levels of heat, from his own, carefully cultivated peppers. He brings with his product, his own sense of humor in the names, and if you know him, you will laugh. He did let me sample some of the product, back during one of Hippie and the Farmer’s Pizza Farm Friday events, and I loved it! So, with a big welcome to another great vendor, we welcome Ryan!!
Also, this week will be the last week to order from the January menu of Cosmic soups, and Hippie and the Farmer frozen pizzas, and dinners! I will launch the February menu on Thursday!
I am also adding a few new Cosmic breads that haven’t been around for quite some time…they are some of my Gypsy Breads, and they were quite popular when I was making my rounds at farmers’ markets, in my early Cosmic days…
Ok! Forget the snow storm, and get your shelter, right here…
XOXO,
Cosmic Pam

CHEMICAL-FREE means produce and pastures grown without synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, or insecticides. LOCAL means within 80 miles from the market pickup locations (usually much much closer). Do you know someone who grows chemical-free food in the area? Get them in touch with us. Know someone who wants fresh food? Spread the word. Put the two together, and that’s growing organically!
