Hi Folks,
The cole crops are coming, the cole crops are coming! This week we have a bit of broccoli and cauliflower with much more on the way shortly. Lettuce is in a little lull, but more is on the wayfor next week. Soils are still much cooler than normal for this time of year, so things like beans, sweet corn and summer squash will be a little behind schedule. They will all be planted outside when the weather warms some because my high tunnels are full of broccoli, cauliflower, beets and cabbage that are filling out nicely.
Hope to see you this week!
Bob and Lynnita
Green Acres Atkins: Good morning
Well the sunshine was nice and now we get another rainy day but no worries the plants need rain too!
Please place those orders by noon on Thursday or come by the farm store at 379 Haralson lane atkins
Have a great week

GROWER & MARKET NOTES
![Garlic scapes](https://i.ibb.co/BLFPJLb/Garlic-scapes.jpg)
Something fun to try! Garlic Scapes are the flower stem of hardneck garlic. They are great to use in place of scallions, with a mild garlic flavor. They will only be available for a few weeks. These scapes are from our Elephant Garlic. The Music Garlic will produce scapes in a few weeks. A quick Google search will yield more recipes than you’ll ever want.
Sugar Snap Peas are back in a very limited supply. The storm last Saturday tore many of them off the trellis and destroyed the plants. Those 50 mph winds were just too much for these tender vines. I’m sorry to disappoint you all. Many of you have been asking about them and there isn’t going to be much of a crop.
Broccoli is starting to trickle in. If you miss them in the market check for table sales Friday.
![FOTO_20210501_111719](https://i.ibb.co/QF94VTg/FOTO-20210501-111719.jpg)
Yellow squash have been blooming for a week now. Unfortunately they are not being pollinated and won’t mature properly. I saw my first honey bee a few days ago on a patch of clover, so they’ll be workng the field soon. Hard to miss those big golden squash blooms.
HORTON’S FARM Sometimes God shows up in small ways to remind you of big things.

That was the case when this came in the mail yesterday. While I keep fewer hives than I once did, have more responsibilities in other venues and have ceased the crazy stuff like climbing tall ladders in the bed of a pickup truck, there’s still plenty I can and need to do. Becoming a Master Beekeeper was a dream come true, and though it was accomplished 8 years ago, like my college degree, at the end I was left with a profound respect for how much I DON’T know. Real education does that to you, but it also teaches you how to study and learn and apply that knowledge . . . “wisdom” I think they call it. I’m glad God’s not done with me and I’m glad He’s not done with you either.
We thank you for your interest and support of our efforts to bring you the healthiest, the freshest and the most delicious locally-produced foods possible! `
