The Cumming Harvest - Closed: Cooler weather is here
Good morning everyone,
It seems September is here, with cooler weather to start. We are so excited.
Now is the perfect time to stock up on all veggies and produce. Now it’s also a great time to tell your family and friends about the Cumming Harvest and spread the news.
Don’t forget to pick up your items the week you order them, to avoid a five dollar holding fee. This fee will be applied 2 weeks in a row, and if you do not pick up on the second week we will donate the items to Meals By Grace.
And remember the market hours are from 10 AM until 12 noon sharp.
As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.

Miami County Locally Grown: You are amazing
A staggering $914.20. That’s how much you’ve donated to help us purchase a commercial refrigerator. Brand new 35 cubic foot units can cost several thousand dollars – but if the repairman was correct and we can find a used fridge for $1,200, we’re almost there!
I just can’t even believe this. I’m at a loss for words when Thank You seems inadequate. $.17 here, $.83 there – you’ve kept us going from the beginning with your help every week, once in a while, when you could… But tonight? That’s just a lot of money. I told my husband after the repairman left that I wasn’t sure we could recover in the near future. I continue to be humbled by this wonderful group of kind, considerate, gracious people.
We have several good helpers searching out and following up leads on both new and used refrigerators (please remember because we’re a licensed Retail Food Establishment with Miami County Public Health, it must be a commercial unit) so with your help we hope to find the right fit as soon as possible.
This week 6635 StudeBaker is offering the proceeds from her full and half size Sourdough pan loaves toward our fridge purchase, so check out the listings under WEEKLY SPECIALS.
And several favorites return to the Market this week – from JM Gardens’ Kennebec Potatoes, Pumpkins, and Decorative Gourds to Radishes and Microgreens from Simple Living Farm.
Thank you for being a part of our Market family, and for your commitment to shopping Local with us. We truly appreciate you, and want to continue to serve you as best as we can.

Market News
Thank you to everyone who reached out last week when we didn’t open the market – we’re very sorry for the inconvenience. The good news is we’re all fine, healthy, and home, and excited to bring you delicious fall vegetables as the weather begins to change. We’re nervously eyeing the remnants of Hurricane Sally and hoping she won’t dump too much water on our farms and friends. Stay dry this week, and we look forward to seeing all of you on Saturday!
Please remember as you order that per the POA’s instructions, we cannot leave your food unattended. If you need us to deliver to your neighbor or slip your order inside your house, please be sure to tell us in the comments so we can make sure your order gets to you safely!
If you have other suggestion about how we can continue to make deliveries without being able to leave products unattended, we’d love to hear them. We’re still developing the best ways to get your orders to you, and we welcome any of your ideas.
As always, if you enjoy being a member of Big Canoe Harvest, tell your friends! The more the market grows, the more additional vendors and products we’ll be able to include. As always, your feedback help shapes the market. Let us know what you think about the Big Canoe Harvest products.
Have a wonderful week, and we’ll see you Saturday!
Whitney and Eddy
We thank you for your interest and support of our efforts to bring you the healthiest, the freshest and the most delicious locally-produced foods possible!

Special Event This Week
Our Pop Up market this week will feature 4 & 20 Bakers, a popular vendor at our Saturday markets. Chad Montgomery will have his familiar food truck available during drive-through hours, 3:30 to 6:30, at the Statesboro Convention and Visitors Bureau. You can purchase Chad’s individual market combos online as “Pop Up Specials” and pick up at the 4 & 20 truck. (Specials include a pizza slice, a cupcake and fresh squeezed lemonade or two slices and a lemonade.) For more than a slice, “caw” or text 912-425-3612 to direct order whole pizzas for pickup. Chad will also offer free samples of his Take N Bake casseroles and meals. Market2Go orders for regular 4 & 20 catalog items will be handled as usual and brought to your vehicle.
When you visit the food truck, please wear your mask and observe social distancing.
If you’re looking for some simple and healthy lunchbox additions, then consider trying out some of these suggestions that are available at Market2Go:
- Sweet scuppernong or muscadine grapes
- Nutrient rich hard boiled eggs
- Juicy pears
- Crunchy cucumbers (sliced if large, whole if small)
- Microgreens can add a flavorful kick to a salad or sandwich
- Hobnob bars for a protein packed dessert
And if you need a little extra energy in the morning (or any time really), Three Tree Coffee is now offering growlers of their refreshing cold brew coffee alongside their bags of whole bean and ground.
Thank you for supporting your local farmers and vendors!
