Heritage Farm :  Election Integrity

All,

Yall can throw me under the bus if you want to here but we have to speak out. This election has many many problems that warrant a second look and a large number of our elected leadership seem to just want to sweep it under the rug. We feel that a fair and impartial investigation needs to be opened to get to the truth and the legitimate winner whomever it is.

Please contact your leaders and representatives and voice your concerns……

Martin's Farmstand:  Farm stand is open today, rest of week.

We plan to open the farm stand from 12:30- 5 pm today. We will also be open on Friday and Saturday afternoon. This is an unusual year in many ways- I cut several bushels of nice spinach from the field on December 1st which is a first. This spinach is at the stand for sale along with kale, lots of squash, and other storage vegetables. The bulk food room is also stocked and open. Winter schedule: In the month of December we will open the farm stand on Thursday, Friday and Saturdays from 12:30 pm till 5 pm. We will be completely closed from Christmas till New year. After the new year till spring the plan is to be open every Friday (12:30pm – 5pm) weather permitting. (If the weather is very stormy or cold call ahead before coming during those midwinter days).

In early May when the asparagus comes up summer hours will resume ( Mon-Sat 10 am -6 pm.

To change your slot or request early or late pickup, please text 912.481.2263 with your ORDER NAME and the TIME you want to pick up.

THE DRIVE-THROUGH PROCEDURE in Statesboro.

  • Drive to the right (counter clockwise) all the way around the SCVB, keeping to the outer perimeter and maintaining a tight queue. A volunteer will check you in as you come around the far side of the building.
  • Please display the name(s) for your order(s) on a windshield placard to assist in quick and safe check-in.
  • Please wear a mask while communicating with market staff.
  • Provide access to your vehicle and to the containers you want loaded (bags, boxes, bins or coolers); unlock the back door or the trunk, with containers inside.
  • We recommend that you bring a cooler for transporting meat, dairy and perishable items. Ice cream melts, even in a short car trip, and our fresh non-homogenized milk is temperature sensitive.
  • Wait in your car for the runner to come out with your order and load into your containers. Make sure your name placard is visible.
  • If you did not prepay on line with a debit or credit card, please make a check for exact amount when your order is delivered. (You may pay cash in exact amount, but any “change” from cash received will be credited to your account. Use an envelope to label the cash payment with your order name.)

PICKUP for SYLVANIA CUSTOMERS.
Pickup is across the street from the Victory Gardens General Store. Please remain in your car until volunteers bring your order, and wear a mask when interacting with volunteers. We recommend that you bring a cooler for transporting meat, dairy and perishable items.

HOME DELIVERY CUSTOMERS.
Orders will be delivered between 2:00 and 5:00 by Boro Takeout. You will receive a notice when your driver is on the way. We recommend you leave a cooler at the front door (or your designated delivery location) to facilitate no-contact delivery and to keep perishable food safe.

EBT CUSTOMERS.
Right now we can scan EBT/SNAP cards only at the Statesboro pickup location. So, if you have ordered online with the intent to pay with your EBT card, you’ll need to come to the Statesboro Drive Through at the Convention and Visitors Bureau between 4:00 and 6:00. Email or text us in advance so we can calculate your bonus dollars and the amount to be charged to your card.

Miami County Locally Grown:  I can't believe we're finally Back!

Well this may be the latest I’ve ever gotten the Market opened back up for orders (technical difficulties and vacations don’t mix!), but I think it was worth the wait!

Last Tuesday morning, I got a call from one of our wonderful customers, Heather Rocco, and I have to tell you it makes me smile every week I see her name, because the item she orders every week? It’s ground beef – for her dog, because Heather is a vegetarian! Cracks me up.

Well, Heather called to tell me the unthinkable – she and her small, family-owned company, Challenger Aviation Products, wanted to donate the balance we needed for the new commercial refrigerator! She said she knows they’re a tiny company (6 employees!) but that giving back to the community was what it’s all about, and while she may work in Dayton, she lives in Troy, and loves the Market!

I told Heather in 12 years my husband had never seen me speechless, and yet she managed the impossible :-)

I’ve said this from the beginning, and it’s never been more true than this year – our vendors, customers and supporters couldn’t be more different from each other… We come from all over the map and political spectrum, and yet even if it’s the ONLY thing we have in common, we all eat – food is our unifier, and our commitment to both supporting local and quality food.

And when I get discouraged, wondering whether kindness and goodness still exist, I need never look further than my beautiful Market community (my husband told me I was forgiven for being sappy because I was so happy!)

So Yes! Eggs are back, from J and S Buehler Family Farm and Hidden Springs Farm!! As well as…

Cases of Chicken
Cream Pies – Banana, Chocolate, Coconut, Key Lime
Holiday Peppermint Rolls (think pumpkin rolls for Christmas!)
Meats sold as extras at pickup

And even Arugula and Carrots this week!!
