Champaign, OH:  Love Is In The Air

Love Is In The Air
Everywhere I look around…
Love Is In The Air
Every sight and every sound…
(John Paul Young)

Hello, 1978 song flashback…hello coming off of a weekend of catering a beautiful wedding filled with love, and hello to this week, and the love fest that is about to become my own daughter’s bridal shower. Bridal Brunch. Brunch and Bubbly. The time has finally come, after she has patiently waited out the pandemic.

She is ready…Miss Ohio Is Getting Married…

So, while I am deep into a sea of pinks, getting it all organized, I urge you to place your weekly orders, keeping in mind that the market will be on vacation, next week!!

Go ahead…put all the love out there, fill the air, fill the market, and fill your hearts.

XOXO,
Cosmic Pam

Statesboro Market2Go:  Order before 10 on Tuesday night!

Shelled Sadandy peas from Jacobs Proudce have arrived at Market2Go this week in 3 different bag sizes!
You can of course enjoy these peas as a side, but the recipes listed below highlight some ways to make them the star of the dish!

  • Pea Hummus, an awesome dip for party appetizers such as chips, toasted baguette slices, and crunchy raw veggies.
  • For a light, but flavorful soup, consider trying Field Peas in Herbed Broth, which uses fresh bay leaves, parsley, and thyme.
  • And for something a bit more filling, there’s Lemon Vinaigrette Pasta Salad with Field Peas, a simple to make vegetarian recipe that uses peas, tomatoes, garlic, and several fresh herbs.

Be sure to check out the recipe section on Market2Go to see over 300 recipes!

Market News

It’s back to school week for the Athens public schools and UGA will follow soon after, and the town is already a turning into a madhouse. It’s easy to get caught up in the new routines and forget about the old, like picking up your ALG orders on Thursday. Please check the phone number on your account to be sure it’s one you can be reached at on a Thursday evening. I start making reminder texts or calls about thirty minutes after your pickup window (or 7:30 if you haven’t yet arrived), and every week there is someone who has forgotten completely. I know I’d forget myself sometimes if I weren’t already there, so there’s no shame in that. Try to enjoy the back-to-school madness this week. Even if you have no little ones yourself in school, Athens certainly changes from the sleepy small town it’s been the last few months.

Thank you so much for your support of Athens Locally Grown, all of our growers, local food, and our rights to eat it. You all are part of what makes Athens such a great area in which to live. We’ll see you at our market’s home on Tallassee Road!

We are still getting new customers every week (and we love seeing new faces!) so for all of you you can find a detailed run-down of how Thursdays go on our website here: https://athens.locallygrown.net/faq#7

Other Area Farmers Markets

If ALG doesn’t have everything you need, please support our growers at the other markets that are now back up and running, or at their own locations. The Comerian takes online orders for Saturday pickup at the bakery here: https://www.thecomerian.com/online-ordering. The Athens Farmers Market is holding their Saturday market once again in Bishop Park and Wednesdays at Creature Comforts. They’re still operating under pandemic rules, so you’ll want to read up on all the changes on their website, http://athensfarmersmarket.net. The West Broad Farmers Market is back, holding a drive through market just like us (and using my software too, so it’ll be nice and familiar). You can join them at https://wbfm.locallygrown.net. The Saturday market in Comer has also returned. They’re small, but sometimes an early Saturday drive to Comer is just what the soul needs. And of course Collective Harvest is going strong over at https://www.collectiveharvestathens.com.

All of these other markets are separate from ALG (including the Athens Farmers Market) but many growers sell at multiple markets. Please support your local farmers and food producers, where ever you’re able to do so!

We thank you for your interest and support of our efforts to bring you the healthiest, the freshest and the most delicious locally-produced foods possible!
