News from Our Growers:

The Market has several delicious Summer Produce and Products this week, Baked Items, House and Garden Plants and ‘Worm Castings’ for anyone who grows ground plants or potted plants…order early so you don’t miss any of your favorite things!

WELCOME A NEW GROWER…Their product will help anyone that loves growing things!

East Fork Farm/Worm castings: What are worm castings? Worm castings are an organic form of fertilizer produced from earthworms, essentially earthworm waste, otherwise known as worm poop.

Why should I purchase organic worm castings from East Fork Farm versus a big box store? East Fork Farm organic worm castings are OMRI certified, so you know you are getting a quality product with nothing added. Other worm castings might have additional ingredients added i.e., mulch, unknown soil, etc.

Benefits of using East Fork Farm organic worm castings: Worm castings contains minerals such as concentrated nitrates, potassium, magnesium, calcium, and phosphorus. They are 100% organic fertilizer that can increase a plant’s yield, protects both soil and plants from diseases, repel insects and help the soil retain moisture. Can be used as a top dressing, side dressing, worked into the soil or brewed into a liquid form (Worm- Tea- Ni) to water your plants.
Worm castings have a very long shelf life and never lose their potency if they are kept DRY. Once wet, the castings need to be used within 48 hrs. 100% safe to be used around pets and children. Can be used to revitalize old soil in gardens and around your household plants. East Fork Farm organic worm castings have a neutral PH of 7.0

Lathemtown Farm Fresh Market:  This week at the market

The rain and heat have taken a toll on cucumbers and tomatoes. I’m harvesting and selling only the ones that are “pretty” enough and the rest get cut up and used in soups and sauces. Waste not! Cucumber and squash plants are looking straggly so replanting some of those to get another crop.
The pumpkin patch is going bananas still though :)
Have a great week and thank you for your orders!!
