Bring your family to enjoy the farm scenery and animals. Find out real actions to reduce the worst of climate disruptions. Our intent is to host a celebration of summer’s end, a bountiful harvest, and local climate initiatives we can all do. Family friendly of course. Register at Eventbrite here. Climate Mobilization Marketplace

Groups and individuals will set up kiosks about their ideas for local climate mobilization. This includes activities like food harvesting and preserving, seed saving, treeplanting, downsizing and rightsizing, tiny houses, nature walks, deep renovation of homes, repurposing yards, neighbourhood resilience clubs and block captains, energy/carbon footprint checkups, suburban retrofitting, and etc.
This event will be rain or shine, renting a bigtop tent. We will use eventbrite to keep track of numbers so we don’t go over the covid outdoor gathering limit.

Champaign, OH:  Monday Dose Of Magic!

It’s a Monday, and time to throw some magic into the day that begins another week!!

It’s been such a crazy, hot weekend, and I know that ordering may be the last thing on your list, but just think of all that you will be missing if you let this heat, humidity, and general end of August blues get the best of you!

We are set to start looking into September in just a few days, and the market is crazy with produce, and all of the seasonal/year round goodness. I know that I forgot to place my order, last week, and I was so sad on Thursday…and, cursing myself that I had to shop, elsewhere, for a few items!

Make the magic happen on this Monday, and conjure up your orders…the happiness it will produce is just like a magic potion…

XOXO,
Cosmic Pam

Foothills Market:  The Market is Open!

Foothills Market is open for the week. You can order items between now and Wednesday at 5 p.m. for pickup on Saturday morning at the in-person farmers’ market.

Thinking ahead a bit, this will be the last week for the in-person market. Next week we will still have products available on Foothills Market, but the pick-up date will change back to Thursday between 4:30-5:30. We will also move to the* EAST *side of the courthouse square.

Sorry for the delay in opening – my only excuse is that school has started and I haven’t yet gotten back in a good routine.

Market News

September already? I can’t say it feels like September to me, but I do see the nights will be getting down into the 50s later in the week, so Fall will get here soon. Can’t wait! I really don’t have anything specific for the newsletter this week, so I’ll let you get right into ordering.

Thank you so much for your support of Athens Locally Grown, all of our growers, local food, and our rights to eat it. You all are part of what makes Athens such a great area in which to live. We’ll see you at our market’s home on Tallassee Road!

We are still getting new customers every week (and we love seeing new faces!) so for all of you you can find a detailed run-down of how Thursdays go on our website here: https://athens.locallygrown.net/faq#7

Other Area Farmers Markets

If ALG doesn’t have everything you need, please support our growers at the other markets that are now back up and running, or at their own locations. The Comerian takes online orders for Saturday pickup at the bakery here: https://www.thecomerian.com/online-ordering. The Athens Farmers Market is holding their Saturday market once again in Bishop Park and Wednesdays at Creature Comforts. They’re still operating under pandemic rules, so you’ll want to read up on all the changes on their website, http://athensfarmersmarket.net. The West Broad Farmers Market is back, holding a drive through market just like us (and using my software too, so it’ll be nice and familiar). You can join them at https://wbfm.locallygrown.net. The Saturday market in Comer has also returned. They’re small, but sometimes an early Saturday drive to Comer is just what the soul needs. And of course Collective Harvest is going strong over at https://www.collectiveharvestathens.com.

All of these other markets are separate from ALG (including the Athens Farmers Market) but many growers sell at multiple markets. Please support your local farmers and food producers, where ever you’re able to do so!

We thank you for your interest and support of our efforts to bring you the healthiest, the freshest and the most delicious locally-produced foods possible!
