Dawson Local Harvest: The Final DAWSON LOCAL HARVEST MARKET
This Is the Dawson Local Harvest’s Final Market!
The Market was founded to be an opportunity for people in our area to have access to local growers and producers of all-natural/organic products. It has been a success in that regard yet it requires a certain amount of work to produce and manage. I’m about to turn 70 and simply don’t have the energy or enough functioning synapses to produce a quality market and fulfill my responsibilities in other areas. So this is, regretfully, the final Dawson Local Harvest Market. This will also mark the end of Leilani’s Produce.
My Daily Bread will be where we focus all our energy and time. MDB will continue to participate in our other Locally-Grown Markets like Living Well, Northeast, and Cumming, all our present Farmers Markets in Halcyon, Dawsonville, Alpharetta, Milton, Vinings Jubilee and Vickery, and retail operations like Green’s, Ancient Awakenings, and A to Zinc.
For all our current customers who order MDB thorough the Dawson Local Harvest you will have more times available to you to come in and pick up your goodies. The MDB storefront in Leilani’s Gardens will be Open 9-5 Monday-Friday and 9-4 on Saturday.
We want to Thank all of you for your participation and support through the years, particularly customers who’ve been with us for years (You know who you are!). It has been a pleasure and privilege to know all of you, and we will remember this time fondly.
Best Wishes to you all!
Alan & Leilani
Berea Gardens: Ordering open
Hi neighbors,
Wishing all of you a happy Labor Day weekend. We have a special deal for you this week; Dutch Cut Montauk Sweet Corn. All the wet weather last week pushed all of our corn crop to ripen at once and we are offering you a special deal so we can move it quickly. We will Dutch Cut the ears (see the photo on the ordering page) to reduce storage space and to pre-prep them for freezing should you choose to do so. We are offering this corn in 10 lb. bags (equivalent to about a dozen full ears) for $4 per bag. A great deal for you and a good opportunity for you to put some in the freezer for a nice late-winter meal.
Lynnita will be baking this week, so we have bread and muffins for you, too.
Blessings,
Bob And Lynnita
Green Acres Atkins: Good morning
Good morning on this Labor Day weekend
Hope you are enjoying this rain it was much needed at the farm
Please place those orders by noon on Thursday
Thanks

BACK IN THE SADDLE
Happy September! I can’t speak for everyone else but it’s GOOD to have August in the rear view mirror. Closing Market at Dothan for a whole month was a scary decision and we still believe it was the right thing to do given the circumstances. In retrospect the timing was impeccable with the spread of the Delta covid variant and going forward we will be observing social distancing, masks and curbside delivery as in the past for those who desire it. Details about that may be found on our Question & Answer Page.

GROWER & MARKET NOTES
AVALON FARMS
![FOTO_20210904_074644](https://i.ibb.co/7jfCZ6P/FOTO-20210904-074644.jpg)
Hello All! Here’s the latest Avalon Farms news.
Growing now:
- We have one last round of summer squash coming; yellow, zucchini and zephyr will be available in a few weeks. (And cucumbers!)
- Green beans and sugar snap peas are on the horizon but farther out.
- Cabbage and broccoli transplants will be going out this week. (Well, that’s the plan anyway.)
Trying to grow:
- Rooting cuttings off tomatoes. Planning to grow in greenhouse.
- Started some radishes and salad turnips in aquaponics.
Big changes:
We are no longer chicken farmers. In an effort to streamline and simplify our operation, the decision was made to get out of the chicken business. There are still plenty of eggs available from our other lovely growers!
HORTONS FARM: We took advantage of the extra time last month to get some much needed projects out of the way. Several rooms have been emptied, overhauled or otherwise tackled and one area reorganized for additional pantry space. It’s a blessing not to have any more boxes of canned pecans under the bed in the guest room! I was also able to develop a plan and start transforming a large area of our yard into an herb and medicinal garden. The big idea is to utilize and repurpose as much from the farm as we can. Several wild medicinals have already been successfully transplanted and we’re collecting more as time, space and resources allow.

Thank you for choosing Northeast Georgia Locally Grown as a way to support your local producers. This online farmers market allows you to buy directly from multiple farms committed to chemical-free and local produce all year long! CHEMICAL-FREE means produce and pastures grown without synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, or insecticides. LOCAL means within 80 miles from the market pickup locations (usually much much closer). Do you know someone who grows chemical-free food in the area? Get them in touch with us. Know someone who wants fresh food? Spread the word. Put the two together, and that’s growing organically!
PICKUP TIME is Wednesday from 5-6:30 p.m.
If you do not get an email ORDER CONFIRMATION right after you order then your order is NOT complete. Log back in and your order might still be there waiting for you to check out! If you have any trouble or questions at all, we are here to help; simply reply to this email.
COVID19: Thanks for recognizing we can all do our part in operating in the safest way possible. Be on the lookout for the order reminder email with any changes to pickup or ways you can help minimize risk for our volunteers and each other. Thanks for your support!
