BLAST FROM THE PAST

With this being the 5th week of October we thought we’d do something different.

Did you know that our website, marketatdothan.locallygrown.net contains a LOT of History?

Those of you who have been with us a while have probably noticed that in your customer file you can see purchases from wayyyyyyyy back. That’s your order history.

Our GROWER PAGE isn’t quite as lengthy as we try to keep that cleaned up showing mostly current and recent vendors. Some of the ones we started with in 2010 are no longer in business!

The best place to view history however is the WEBLOGS. At the bottom of the page in green letters (admittedly hard to see against the background) are pages containing EVERY NEWSLETTER for the last 11 years!

Check this from April 3, 2013:

THANK YOU!

Thanks to JD and wonderful staff at Dothan Nurseries! What a blessing to be a small part of such a special place. The Market at Dothan has the most beautiful setting of any market! The staff is always willing to lend a helping hand with a smile on their face…we appreciate you!

Thanks to the best customers in the Wiregrass! Without your loyal support of local food the market would not be possible! We are so grateful to see you every Friday…you are our sunshine!

That was the entire newsletter! And it was wonderful!

In case you’re wondering Susan and Amanda were/are our founders. They did something remarkable in transitioning a small tent market to an online market, no small task when many people still didn’t have laptops, let alone smart phones.

Fyi, the above newsletter was on page 45 of our weblog history, before the newsletter included recipes or photos! These photos were published later that year. They were borrowed from a sister market in Athens, GA.

We encourage you to poke around – There’s a lot of good info in there and who knows what kind of treasure you may find!

Now for the TRICK:

Bug-Infused Ice Cube Trick

*Freeze gummy worms or bug-shape candy into classic ice cube trays for a funny prank and spooky-sweet drink surprise. Place one candy in each cube, then fill the ice cube tray with water as usual. Once the water freezes, pop out the ice cubes and add them to any drink. Our favorite? Halloween-theme punch.
*Editor’s Tip: Don’t worry if the candy spills over the tray edge. It just adds to the scary effect of this Halloween prank.

Our address is: 3540 Keith Bridge Road, Cumming 30041 (behind Hollywood Feed). Please be sure to come to the new address this weekend.

As a reminder the market is open from Wednesday morning through Thursday at 8pm for orders. All orders must be picked up on Saturday from 10am until 12pm noon. Please be respectful of our volunteers’ time and plan to pick up early and not right before noon.

Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.

Thanks,
Angie Breindl

Remember to tell me when you want to pick up! (and if I don’t reply to confirm within a day, bump my e-mail or text me 407-342-8515. Though I have cleaned up my e-mail so hopefully I won’t Miss Anyone.)

Old99Farm Market:  Week of Oct 24 2021

Well the last week of October has arrived and Halloween is just around the corner.

Rather than tossing your decorations in the garbage or city compost bring them to the farm and toss them to the animals for a treat. Just a couple small rules – no painted or dyed pumpkins. Please make sure to remove any and all toothpicks or other parts and props and remove any wax.

Veggies available this week include some GREAT CELERY (new), collard greens, Swiss chard, health kick salad blend, spinach, tomatoes, eggplants, golden beets, golden turnips, Detroit beets, white potatoes, purple top turnips, carrots and much more!
