Berea Gardens: Great Market Deals this week - open now
One of my favorite authors, John Steinbeck wrote “The best laid plans of mice and men oft go awry.” We are feeling that this week. Back in February we had good, systematic plans for a long succession of broccoli and cauliflower harvest from early May into late June. The seeds were started in late January and plants started going in to the high tunnels in February over a month long period. Then came warm weather. Then came freezing weather. Then came sunny days. Then came cloudy days. Finally the crop ripened. Most of it this week! Our frustrated plans work to your benefit with much reduced prices on those two items. Good time to put some in the freezer.
Blessings,
Bob

Weblog from a few of our Grower’s:
Linwood Farm: Here is a list of benefits consuming Lamb;
Nutrient Rich
Lamb is naturally nutrient rich. It’s packed with an array of essential nutrients and is an excellent source of protein, zinc, riboflavin, niacin, iron and vitamins.
Almost every cut of lamb is naturally tender, and you don’t need to add much seasoning to make it full-flavored. It doesn’t need to be marinated. Instead, we’ve found it best to season lamb simply with salt and pepper, along with other aromatic ingredients like chopped garlic, rosemary and oregano.
It’s fancy enough to serve for a dinner party or holiday meal, but it’s also simple and easy enough to cook for a weeknight dinner.
Linwood lamb chops are cut 2”thickand are lean, tender and delicious! With their perfect serving size and attractive “T” shaped bone that runs through the meat, loin chops are simple to prepare. Season with salt and pepper then grill, broil or panfry the chops for a delicious meal.
Linwood leg steaks can be lightly salted and peppered and put right on the grill as any other steak. Cook to 135-1400F and they are ready to serve for a quick and easy main course.
Spicy Italian Brats are a new menu item at Linwood Farm. We’ve found they can easily be prepared on the stove or grill. If you want a really unique taste try smoking them on the grill for an hour or so. Yum!
Linwood Ground Lamb is a diverse product. It is the perfect substitute for ground beef in many recipes, ground lamb offers a long list of possibilities for quick and easy weeknight dinners: meatballs, burgers and sliders, shepherd’s pie, kabobs, and meatloaf. Add aromatic seasonings to impart delicious flavor and variety to any meal made with ground lamb.
Bean Man:
We trust everyone is enjoying the wonderful weather this weekend. We have all of our Fresh Dry Beans, Bean Mixes, Scottish Oatmeal and Gluten Free Flours available for the market. Need a shortcut for a healthy meal or snack? Check out our Ready to Mix products which include 3 bread mixes, 2 pancake mixes, 2 soups, 5 pizza crust mixes as well as bean dip and refried beans. All are gluten free and we have several options to satisfy vegan, vegetarian, keto, paleo diets. We provide the dry ingredient mixes and you provide the wet ingredients for easy and healthy options to your diet.
Pinky’s Micros: We grow all different kinds of microgreens. Ones that everyone always can find at stores and some that people never ever seen before besides in high end restaurants. I want to bring people fresh microgreens so they can enjoy the health benefits plus also feel like a chef at home.
Microgreens and sprouts are extremely dense in vital enzymes, minerals and vitamins and chlorophyll. There aren’t many foods you could eat that are fresher.
Enjoy a dazzling array of new flavors. Plants are at their absolute peak of flavor intensity at this stage of life.

You may also see some veggies pop up in our shop over the season because what goes better together than bees and gardens? Champaign, OH: Lovely Day
And the world’s alright with me
Just one look at you
And I know it’s gonna be
A lovely day…
Lovely day, lovely day, lovely day, lovely day…
(Bill Withers)
I was in Columbus, last night, having dinner, and I looked at my phone, quickly, to see I had received a text, from one of our dearest market customers, and someone who has become very dear to me, over the years (as all of you have become) and she sent me the song she was listening to.
I thought what a lovely song to start this lovely Sunday morning…put it on your playlist, and you will agree.
It’s been a busy weekend, for me, filled with old high school friends, in town, yesterday, as we spent time in downtown Springfield, at Indie Craft (you can still go, today, with many more bands performing, food, and craft beer everywhere). I loved basking in the sun, going down memory lane, laughing, loving their faces, and watching not only all of us coming together, again, but also the downtown community of Springfield all working together, and all of the crowds just doing nothing but loving and listening and grooving…
All the concepts that I always hope to weave into this lovely little market, right here…
It’s Sunday, and it’s perfect for ordering!
Asparagus is only here for a short time, Kingdom Fish have their microgreens back on along with their lettuce and swiss chard!!! And, they have much more to come!
Brighten your soul with a bouquet of flowers, candles, oils, soaps, beautiful woodworks, designs from Be Bright Designs for fun tshirts for this warmer days…the list goes on and on!
So, my lovelies…order up!
Enjoy your day, it’s such a lovely day…
XOXO,
Cosmic Pam
