Statesboro Market2Go:  Order before 10 on Tuesday night!

This week we’re highlighting some gorgeous purple vegetables that are also rich in vitamins & antioxidants! That’s right, we’re talking about EGGPLANTS!

These vibrant vegetables can be used in a variety of ways, so here are some suggestions:

  • Serve them up in Ajvar, a spicy sauce with cayenne & bell peppers bringing the heat,
  • Roast them and serve them with caramelized onions, and some potatoes, fresh basil, and cherry tomatoes,
  • Stewed up in a veggie-rich Curry with carrots, tomatoes, kale, and garlic,
  • Or Baked until crispy and served covered with melted cheese & minced fresh herbs!
  • Alternatively, if you want to be able to enjoy them after they’ve gone out of season, try freezing them now for later use!

Coming off of a big weekend, perhaps looking at a stressful week, or an overly scheduled few days, why not make it easy on yourself, and do all of your local ordering, right here, saving you multiple stops, driving, crowds, chances of products being sold out or not stocked, and soaring grocery costs. Our market offers one stop shopping. Healthy selections. Local roots. Easy, friendly pick up. And, vendors who are dedicated to you, by supplying the best products, while realizing you are concerned about everything, right now, and aiming to keep their own costs down, just to help with your load.

Always sending me love to you, from the market,

Lathemtown Farm Fresh Market:  This Week at the Market

This week open with about the same veggies as before…. I have had to water the gardens daily and they could really use a good soaking rain to boost their production!! The cucumbers are starting to come in, but slower than usual because we desperately need rain. I am getting small amount of okra and wild blackberries as well. Most of these items will be in the stand during the week as I can’t predict a good and steady supply to reserve ahead of time.
The flowers will an added item to the stand this week – small and cute bouquets of mixed beauties!
We will be adding a new soap vendor to the market this week!!! She has a wonderful selection I think you will love as much as I do. I will have a separate email introducing her and her products available beginning tomorrow.
Have a great week!

Farmher Chef Amy

Martin's Farmstand:  U-pick strawberry update

We are opening the strawberry patch for u-pick tomorrow morning at 7 am as is our normal pattern. Expect poor picking with a limited amount of ripe berries. The patch was picked thoroughly yesterday and with the cool weather there are not many berries that have ripened today. The next picking will be on Wednesday afternoon starting at 2 pm and they should be much more ripe by then. We also will not be picking for the stand on Monday. I expect to have picked berries available at the stand again on Tuesday afternoon. In other parts of the garden and greenhouse there are lots of scallions, herbs, tomatoes, cucumbers etc. Field lettuce is abundant now. I am putting the romaine lettuce together with the red and green leafy lettuce display and pricing them all @ $1.85 each or three heads for $5. In the greenhouse I planted 10 seeds of a long delicious white cucumber from Johnny seeds. I also planted about 300 seeds of normal green cucumbers. Those 10 white cucumbers are yielding about 3 bushel a week right now which I find impressive. If you close your eyes when you are eating them you would never know they are white as they taste just like any other cucumber. Try one sometime. Daniel

The Wednesday Market:  We're Open!

Good evening.

The Wednesday Market is open for orders. Please place your order by 8 a.m. Tuesday. Orders are ready for pick up between 2 and 4 p.m. Wednesday. See the website for this week’s product offerings. Here is the link: https://wednesdaymarket.locallygrown.net/market

Please accept my apologies for turning on the system so late this week. Usually the system is activated on Saturday evenings. Well, sometimes life happens, and our normal schedules break down. Such has been the case for me this week! At any rate, because the system is late opening for orders, we’ll keep the system open later than usual so that no one misses out on an opportunity to order.

Thank you for supporting Georgia Grown. We’ll see you at the Market.

Thanks,

Beverly

P.S. If you need to contact someone about your order, please please call Sharon Fox, (404) 569-0582, or email her at [email protected].
