Champaign, OH:  Hello, Old Friend...

As I am strolling down the garden path
I saw a flower glowing in the dark
It looked so pretty and it was unique
I had to bend down just to have a peek

Hello old friend…
(Eric Clapton)

So, here we are, Monday evening, the eve before your weekly orders are all due, in the morning, at 8am.

Hello, there…hello, to all of you. Hello, to so many, many returning customers that seem to be returning after a year or more hiatus. Hello, to the weekly loyals.

And…hello to a new vendor who is starting this week! Brown Paper Bakery, LLC. A mother/son baking team that applied to the market, was on the market waiting list, and then we had to say goodbye to McClain’s Munchies, and Brown Paper Bakery was the next one on the waiting list! Give them a look…I hear amazing things about their English Toffee!!

Also, it’s Hello, Again, to another vendor, who will start on Thursday, when I reopen the market. He is new to a great many of you, but he’s one of the OGs that used to be part of the market, way back in the older market times. And, he came up through the ranks with many of your other favorite vendors.

BUT…the most exciting part of his return is….drumroll….he brings his lettuces back to us!!!!

Yes, on Thursday, we say hello to Kevin, of Davidson Family Growers!!! His lettuces are always fresh, full of taste, his farm is in New Carlisle, he is well known in the Clark County markets and restaurants for his lettuces, and I was so happy that he called me, this morning, to let me know that he could return to this market!!

So, on Thursday, get ready for lettuce, again!!!

But, for now…get your weekly orders in!!

XOXO,
Cosmic Pam

Lathemtown Farm Fresh Market:  Good Spring Morning!

It feels like spring, wonderful spring is in the air!!! And yes, here in our area that means TONS of pollen! I got in my truck this morning and can see the coating already. That means our spring allergies are also feeling it! I’ve got elderberry syrup and raw wildflower honey to help with that!
Georgia Victory Gardens will have their pickled veggies listed later on so check those out! I taste tested them all and I know you will like them as much as I did. The smoked one is my personal fave!
The farm stand is officially open for the rest of the year again. I will continue to have order pick ups from the porch as we have grown a lot this year! Once you pick up your order, you can either put payment in your cooler or up at the cash box in the stand when you head out and shop the table.
Thank you for continuing to return containers and jars. If you have any of the Publix/ Kroger wine bags, I love these for our soup orders!
Thank you for supporting our Micro Farm Market! Have a great week!

Growers News or Updates:

Spring Meadow Farm: returning this week with some great items, be sure to check them out. Bacon Cheese Quiche, Butterhead Lettuce, Candy Onion PLANTS, Egg Salad, Pasture Raised Eggs, Fresh Cut Mint, Granola, Red Leaf Lettuce, Roasted Heirloom Marianara, Siberian Kale, Speckled Bibb Lettuce and Spinach.

Quarter Springs Farm: Spring has almost sprung and our hens are working overtime to lay lots of healthy and delicious eggs. We still have a selection of lamb cuts available, and a very limited selection of pasture-raised whole chickens and breasts. Pasture raised chicken is better for the bird, your body and the planet. But most importantly, it tastes amazing. As usual, we have a scintillating selection of savory soaps and shampoo bars, all made with skin softening goat milk.

NashPhilly: Will return next week.

Billie Rose Bread & Butter: offering a variety of delicious made-from-scratch items to the local community. A unique mix of items will be curated, with a strong focus on baked goods and delicious fruit butters and jams. From southern staples like cornbread and biscuits, to New York style bagels, to special diet accommodations like vegan breads and wheat-free dog treats, Billie Rose hopes to become a new craving!

Oakview Farm: We are taking a few weeks off and will be back mid March.

Thweatt Things: I am making fabric Easter baskets for gathering eggs or for brightening your home decor for the holiday. These roomy baskets have a 6” base and are approximately 5 1/2” high. The handle is buttoned on and can be taken off if desired. They are constructed from fabric and soft foam. Each one is unique. Printed Design may vary.

Pinky’s Micros: Microgreens and sprouts are extremely dense in vital enzymes, minerals and vitamins and chlorophyll. There aren’t many foods you could eat that are fresher. Put on your sandwhich, top your salads with them or use in place of lettuce.

This week: Seasonal Chef’s Blend; this is our specialty customized microgreen blend! Every season we’ll be creating new blends represent each season. Our Winter Blend has Romaine, Celery, Kale Confetti and Red Bull Beets. Along with Pea, Radish, Cinnamon Basil, Broccoli, Basic salad Mix and Sunflower.

Enjoy a dazzling array of new flavors. Plants are at their absolute peak of flavor intensity at this stage of life.

Shroomegy Gourmet Mushrooms: It’s been a busy few weeks here at Shroomegy. We are working hard to bring you great fresh mushrooms! I have been using Lion’s Mane powder in my morning coffee in the ratio of 3 parts coffee to 1 part mushroom powder to up my antioxidants. I feel great! We are also working on a new mushroom jerky recipe with oyster mushrooms. I will be sure to add it to the recipes when I get it just right.

RC Farm: Enjoy our large selection of produce grown in our greenhouse and/or hydroponically. We have added several other items to our inventory. Fried pies, cakes, pies and breads.

Rus-T-Acres: Our Chickens have finally started laying again! This winter has been ruff on our feather ‘friends’. Be sure to checkout our several delicious selections of Beef and Pork.

Friendship and Sour Dough Breads and Delicious Biscuits are freshly baked day of delivery! We are having a SALE…purchase a Pumpkin Butter and get one free!! Still available is our delicious Apple Butter and Fig Jam from local Turkey Fig Tree are great anytime of the year. Apple Jamely (almost a jelly but thick like a jam) HOT Jams – Seriously Hot Strawberry and Habanero Peach are a hit. Warm some up and put over cream cheese and serve with crackers – yummy!

Foothills Market:  The Market is Open!

Human beings are not the only creatures who are glad to see the spring-like weather – the hens and ducks are as well! That means eggs are back on Foothills Market!

We have both chicken and duck eggs available on the market this week. Thanks to the longer days, our hens back to laying after taking most of the winter off. If you’ve had farm-fresh eggs, you know store eggs can’t compare. Our growers’ hens are free-range, which means their varied diet leads to that dark orange yolk that is full of nutrients. If you’ve never tried duck eggs, this might be a good opportunity – they have bigger yolks and a creamy texture that takes baked goods to the next level (and makes a great fried egg sandwich)!

Browse the market between now and Wednesday at 5:00 p.m., being sure to click the “Place your order” button. We’ll have your order ready for pickup on Thursday afternoon.

Eat something fresh this week!
