Growers News:

Billie Rose Bread and Butter: I’ve added a new baked good this week. I’m trying gluten free and vegan mini Bundt cakes. Along with our Bagals.

Carole’s Herbs (CS3 Farms): We have some sweet winter carrots ready to be enjoyed. Also the spring wild edibles are up. These healthy greens can be chopped up and put into a salad or into a blender with other ingredients for a healthy smoothie. They can also be cooked up and served with dinner.

Oakview Farm: we have some beautiful curly mustard and collard greens on sale this week, along with: cabbage, scallions, radishes, and purple top turnips. Have you tried our small white Hakurei turnips? They are so sweet that you can eat them raw. We like to cut them into chunks and use them in our favorite dip as an appetizer. We also have lots of crisp, healthy spinach available this week. We also have a few loaves of our artisan sourdough bread; this bread takes a long time to make so it has a very deep sourdough flavor! And, for those of you with a sweet tooth, we put our Orange Chocolate and Peppermint Patties on the exchange for this week as well.

Thweatt Things: I am making fabric Easter baskets for gathering eggs or for brightening your home decor for the holiday. These roomy baskets have a 6” base and are approximately 5 1/2” high. The handle is buttoned on and can be taken off if desired. They are constructed from fabric and soft foam. Each one is unique. Printed Design may vary.

Pinky’s Micros: Microgreens and sprouts are extremely dense in vital enzymes, minerals and vitamins and chlorophyll. There aren’t many foods you could eat that are fresher. Put on your sandwhich, top your salads with them or use in place of lettuce.

This week: Seasonal Chef’s Blend; this is our specialty customized microgreen blend! Every season we’ll be creating new blends represent each season. Our Winter Blend has Romaine, Celery, Kale Confetti and Red Bull Beets. Along with Pea, Radish, Cinnamon Basil, Broccoli, Basic salad Mix and Sunflower.

Enjoy a dazzling array of new flavors. Plants are at their absolute peak of flavor intensity at this stage of life.

Shroomegy Gourmet Mushrooms: It’s been a busy few weeks here at Shroomegy. We are working hard to bring you great fresh mushrooms! I have been using Lion’s Mane powder in my morning coffee in the ratio of 3 parts coffee to 1 part mushroom powder to up my antioxidants. I feel great! We are also working on a new mushroom jerky recipe with oyster mushrooms. I will be sure to add it to the recipes when I get it just right.

RC Farm: Enjoy our large selection of produce grown in our greenhouse and/or hydroponically. We have added several other items to our inventory. Fried pies, cakes, pies and breads.

Rus-T-Acres: Our Chickens have finally started laying again! This winter has been ruff on our feather ‘friends’. Be sure to checkout our several delicious selections of Beef and Pork.

Flying S Farms: Let’s talk Chicken Eggs, they are picking up their production! We can now offer by the dozen or a bundle of 3 dozen!. Friendship and Sour Dough Breads and Delicious Biscuits are freshly baked day of delivery! We are having a SALE…purchase a Pumpkin Butter and get one free!! Still available is our delicious Apple Butter and Fig Jam from local Turkey Fig Tree are great anytime of the year. Apple Jamely (almost a jelly but thick like a jam) HOT Jams – Seriously Hot Strawberry and Habanero Peach are a hit. Warm some up and put over cream cheese and serve with crackers – yummy!

Terry’s Treasures: Several arrangements of Aloe Plants, Cactus Garden and beautiful custom make art pieces/coasters, see picture of the Clock I custom made. If you have a print, picture or special drawing I can help preserve it for you using my resin technique.

Martin's Farmstand:  Fresh Bread

The farmstand is open this afternoon (March 11,2023) from 12:30- 5 PM. There is still a good stock of the normal late winter vegetables such as potatoes (Irish and sweet), beets, carrots, onions and garlic. The bulk food room is restocked again with flour, sugar, oatmeal etc. One thing of note is that there are NO PRICE INCREASES. A highlight for today is that we have fresh bread baking which will be available this afternoon. They are mixing a white sourdough bread and the normal honey wheat bread. ( priced @ $5 per loaf.) Not today but soon we will be also baking a few other things such as cookies. The baking is a joint projct between my daughter Rebecca and my son Joshua with the help and mentorship of my beautiful and capable wife Mendy. The plan is to be baking every Saturday during the late winter- early spring. When the stand opens with summer hours the baking days will change. In the greenhouse we planted about 70,000 onion seeds about two weeks ago. They are up and growing nicely along with the other normal early things. Soon this snow will go away and after a bit of mud season there should be spring, green grass and asparagus. When summer hours resume this spring we will not be open on Mondays. Summer stand Hours will be Tuesday- Saturday from 10 am- 6 pm. We have judged that as a family that we want a two day weekend. Daniel

CHEMICAL-FREE means produce and pastures grown without synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, or insecticides. LOCAL means within 80 miles from the market pickup locations (usually much much closer). Do you know someone who grows chemical-free food in the area? Get them in touch with us. Know someone who wants fresh food? Spread the word. Put the two together, and that’s growing organically!
