Miami County Locally Grown:  Fridge Update, Rosy Toes gone til 2021!

Here’s where we stand on replacing our refrigerator – Good, amazing, incredible news? We’ve raised over $1,500!

The sad news? We were waiting on hearing back from Hobart after Ed Bucher, with FUMC and the Food Pantry, had purchased new units for the Pantry and contacted them in our behalf to see if they’d be willing to also give us a deal! By the time the decision came back from Corporate, it did not go in our favor :-(

So we definitely are still gratefully, humbly accepting donations to raise the money to purchase at least a used commercial unit – we’re looking at $2,450 for a unit the size of our old one, and we’ll get there!

We’ll remain unable to offer you any eggs or refrigerated baked goods such as Carmen’s famous cream pies and pumpkin rolls, and we’ll have to limit our meat offerings as well – at the suggestion of Miami County Public Health, we were using the bottom of our fridge to store the cases and larger orders of meat from vendor drop-off to customer pickup!

This is the last week Rosy Toes Designs will be on the Market this year! Take a look at her Dryer Balls, whether whimsically adorable or practical, for gifts or a treat for yourself!

The Market will not reopen for orders this Tuesday Nov 24 after pickup – we’re closed for our scheduled one week break – so no Market pickup Tuesday Dec 1st!!

Thank you all for your continued kindness and support!

Champaign, OH:  It's A Sunshine Day!

I just can’t stay inside all day
I gotta get out get me some of those rays
Everybody’s smilin
Sunshine day!
(Brady Bunch)

Go ahead, turn up the bubblegum music on this sun filled, warm day, headed our way! Just in time for tonight’s market pick up!! But, it’s going to be windy, so no hats for your market manager, today!

First, thank you, thank you for the spectacular market, again, this week!

There are a lot of you, and there are a few new customers to the market!

You may begin picking up your orders at 4pm, this evening, at the site of Oakview Farm Meats 1645 St. Rt. 54, Urbana!

Please pull into the drive, noticing the flow of the car line, and you will begin pulling up to the new extension to the greenhouse! Your other market manager worked hard to get the walls and front door ready, but has not yet cut out the windows, or painted. But, it gives me some protection from the elements that will be heading our way, soon.

The guys in the greenhouse will pack your orders, as I give them your name, and then I will deliver it to your trunk, or in your car.

Payments are easiest for the flow of the line if you are ready with them! If your don’t have a card on file, you can either call me, today, with your card number, or you can have a check made out to Oakview Farm Meats, with your total. OR, exact cash in a ziplock bag with your name!

The lines can be long, at times, so just enjoy the sunshine, the country, and the relaxed part of your day, while we get you packed up, and ready for the road!

If you are new, we welcome you to this very large market family! And, as your manager, I love when customers give me a favorite song, or a favorite market product! I love to write about the different customers that are a part of the market scene.

If you need a Friday morning pick up, please let me know! If you are a Clem N Thyme customer from Yellow Springs, we deliver your orders, tomorrow afternoon to their farm office!

I’ll see everyone, this evening!

Be groovy,
Cosmic Pam

We will have help available this week between 4 and 6 to assemble your orders and bring them out to your vehicles; however, we can accommodate a few early or late orders with advance notice. To change your slot or request early or late pickup, please text 912.481.2263 with your ORDER NAME and the TIME you want to pick up.

Remember! When you head out to your pickup location, be sure to take a mask, a placard with your order name(s), and appropriate containers for your food.

THE DRIVE-THROUGH PROCEDURE in Statesboro.

  • Drive to the right (counter clockwise) all the way around the SCVB, keeping to the outer perimeter and maintaining a tight queue. A volunteer will check you in as you come around the far side of the building.
  • Please display the name(s) for your order(s) on a windshield placard to assist in quick and safe check-in.
  • Please wear a mask while communicating with market staff.
  • Provide access to your vehicle and to the containers you want loaded (bags, boxes, bins or coolers); unlock the back door or the trunk, with containers inside.
  • We recommend that you bring a cooler for transporting meat, dairy and perishable items. Ice cream melts, even in a short car trip, and our fresh non-homogenized milk is temperature sensitive.
  • Wait in your car for the runner to come out with your order and load into your containers. Make sure your name placard is visible.
  • If you did not prepay on line with a debit or credit card, please make a check for exact amount when your order is delivered. (You may pay cash in exact amount, but any “change” from cash received will be credited to your account. Use an envelope to label the cash payment with your order name.)

PICKUP for SYLVANIA CUSTOMERS.
Pickup is across the street from the Victory Gardens General Store. Please remain in your car until volunteers bring your order, and wear a mask when interacting with volunteers. We recommend that you bring a cooler for transporting meat, dairy and perishable items.

HOME DELIVERY CUSTOMERS.
Orders will be delivered between 2:00 and 5:00 by Boro Takeout. You will receive a notice when your driver is on the way. We recommend you leave a cooler at the front door (or your designated delivery location) to facilitate no-contact delivery and to keep perishable food safe.

EBT CUSTOMERS.
Right now we can scan EBT/SNAP cards only at the Statesboro pickup location. So, if you have ordered online with the intent to pay with your EBT card, you’ll need to come to the Statesboro Drive Through at the Convention and Visitors Bureau between 4:00 and 6:00. Email or text us in advance so we can calculate your bonus dollars and the amount to be charged to your card.
