Dogwood Valley Greenhouse:
It’s Christmas time in Tennessee! Well, not really, but it is time to put in your order for decorations from Dogwood Valley Greenhouse. This year I will be selling at Wildwood Christmas Tree Farm in Woodbury, but I want to be sure all my local friends receive the items they want before I take any to the farm. So here is how this will work: prepay the total cost now, and reserve a delivery date. Note: it will be easier for me to fill your order on a later date. I promise I will not run out of wreaths and kissing balls, but it’s hard to make as many as are wanted early in the season. They should last about a month if outside, and will be just as beautiful after Christmas as before. Delivery will begin the first Wednesday of December and continue till all orders are filled. Also available this year: beautiful table basket centerpieces and herb plant baskets. Order and pay now, pick up and enjoy in December. Coming in a month or so: Christmas cacti.

Fungalicious:
As the holiday approaches we find ourselves wondering who would like to have gourmet mushrooms to pare with their dishes for a wonderful Thanksgiving meal. Here at Fungalicious it takes us four weeks start to finish in order to produce these wonderful delicacies. We would love to make sure that any and all who wish to have them can so we need to get an idea of what to plan for in the growing cycle. If you could please send us an email letting us know what you would like and how much it would be greatly appreciated. This will allow us to plan the harvest for that week.

Body and Soul Teas:
Herbal tea blends for sipping and soaking. My current product line includes herbal tea blends, bath teas, and herbal steams.

Flying S Farms: Some of the items we have this week include; Salad Onions, Sweet Potatoes, Romanesco, Cheddar, Purple and White Cauliflower. Also Radishes (try them roasted-delicious) Turnips, Daikon’s, Kale, Turnips Greens, Winter Squash: New Blue Squash!, Butternut and Carnival. Sweet breads, assorted brownie and lemon bars, pumpkin bread as well as cookies are back on the market. Artisan Breads and Sour Dough Breads and biscuits. As well as our Sour Dough Breads in loaves and rolls. We’ll be Jammin’ again this week so be sure to check back. Few of our most requested jams are back! Christmas Jam (Cranberry + Strawberry) and Cowboy Candy (Candied Jalapenos), Dark Cherry Jam and Seriously HOT Strawberry, planning to add few more later in the week to have available next week.

THOUGHTS TO PONDER

”As we express our gratitude we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words but to live by them.“ John Fitzgerald Kennedy
Fall-leaves-png-transparent-24
1-Thessalonians_5-18
Many people think this verse means to being thankful for the bad things that happen in our lives, but that’s not necessarily so. That one little word, “IN everything . . .” urges us to look for beauty, for joy, for good when things are dark and hard. One person said “The greatest test of faith is when you don’t get what you want but still, you are able to say; Thank You Lord.”

Fall-leaves-png-transparent-24
“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow.” – Melody Beattie

“On Thanksgiving Day we acknowledge our dependence.” – William Jennings Bryan

Our COVID protocol is still in place for everyone who wants curbside service.

I. Order Payment:
1. Voluntarily prepay by 6 pm Thursday if possible using this PAYPAL link. This eliminates passing paper currency back and forth or handling debit/credit cards on site. Your invoice will be marked PAID and pickup is fast and easy. In the event of undelivered items you will be issued a Market credit that will apply to your next order.
2. Debit/Credit – One of us will briefly step within 6 feet for you to put your card in the chip reader. We do our best to avoid touching your card or you touching the equipment which means we sign an “x” for your signature.
3. Cash and Checks – You may hand them to us. Exact change is preferred if using cash to prevent a lot of passing back and forth. If you choose curbside pickup you are welcome to put payment in your trunk/tailgate as that would eliminate the need to come near your window.

II. Order Delivery:
1. Curb Service: Please pull up next to the Market Shed. We will direct traffic a little bit if needed. Have your trunk/ hatchback open and we’ll load you up!
2. Walk Up Pickup: Please do not come inside. When we see you coming we’ll put your order near the entrance and step back for you to claim it. This system works really well for those of you wishing to get extra veggies that may be available.
3. Regardless of how you choose to accept your Market order please know that we make every effort to practice safe distancing and ask that you do the same.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION
It takes all of us working together to keep everything running & everyone safe!

We thank you for your interest and support of our efforts to bring you the healthiest, the freshest and the most delicious locally-produced foods possible!

Martin's Farmstand:  We are open- winter schedules

Below is an updated product list from Martins Farmstand. The beautiful warm weather of last week has the late lettuce, spinach, and kale looking good. The plan is to harvest lots of these goodies today to stock the stand into next week. There is a patch of cilantro that I did not expect to make it to a reasonable size- it is just perfect. Look at the list to see what all else we have for you. The storage areas are full of all sorts of root crops and cabbage. There are lots of brussel sprouts and leeks left in the field.
The winter schedule for us to be open is as follows.
From now till the day before Thanksgiving we will be open with the summer schedule 6 days a week.
In the month of December we will be open on Thursday, Friday and Saturdays from 12:30 pm till 5 pm. We will be completely closed from Christmas till New year. After the new year till spring the plan is to be open every Friday (12:30pm – 5pm) weather permitting. (If the weather is very stormy or cold call ahead before coming during those midwinter days).
In early May when the asparagus comes up summer hours will resume ( Mon-Sat 10 am -6 pm.

Champaign, OH:  Turkey Chase

Good morning, lovely market customers!

What a change in the weather from a few short days ago. But, this brisk change just makes an early Saturday morning even more inviting to sit, with my coffee, and my favorite Saturday coffee mug, looking out at the frost on the hills behind my house, spin some tunes, and let the day unfold.

Today’s title, is from a soundtrack that I have loved, ever since I can remember. It’s from the Bob Dylan soundtrack to the movie, Pat Garrett and Billy The Kid. Bob did the music for the movie, and appeared in the movie as…..go ahead, surprise me with emailing me your answer. No cheating by looking it up. The first person to answer, gets a free Cosmic product, this week!

Anyway, November always draws me deep into listening to two Bobs. Dylan and Weir. Anyway, since here we are, in November, very close to Thanksgiving, I wanted to give a few updates to those of you who have only been with us since March, when we moved the market.

This week’s market is traditionally the last market before the Thanksgiving holiday. We take the whole week off for Thanksgiving. We don’t try to reschedule the pick up day. When we hit this point in the year, the season, I like to give the vendors a bit of time off. We all need a bit of a recharge, at this point. As their market manager, I am demanding, I ask for a lot from them, and each and every week, they give me their A game.

So, get your orders in, this week, because we will be off, the following week. On Thanksgiving eve, I will reopen the market for ordering.

In this month of November, this month of thanks, and giving, I always reflect back on things of the year. It’s been a crazy train. A crap shoot. Uncertainty. Questions. My gosh…how did we even get here? But, I am so thankful for silver linings in times of turmoil. This market, and it’s move to the farm, is one of them. The great pleasure of all of the customer base who have become more than customers. You have become friends. Each and every week, I love getting snippets of your lives. I love loading your cars with market loveliness.

For some reason, I have never been able to run this market as an assembly line at pick up. Some have said, why not just pack things up, and let the customers grab their boxes and go? Or, why not have several people out to hand out orders.

I cannot do that. A large part of what sets this market apart from other online pick ups/deliveries, is the interaction and bonds that have been built with each of you. It’s important to how this market thrives.

I hope that you all feel the same. I hope that you find peace, as you drive out to Thursday pick ups on the farm.

And, while we are giving thanks, I feel we all need to give the other market manager, and his family, a HUGE thank you, for housing the market after the YMCA had to let us find another place, in March. Because of their kindness, the market has grown into what I had always hoped, bringing all of you to the market.

The vendors deserve ALL the thanks for supplying us with product, each week, and for stepping up to the high volume and demands of this market.

And, while I have taken up your Saturday, long enough, I urge you to communicate with any of our vendors, if there is something that you would like during our week’s hiatus, after this Thursday. Many times, you all are able work things out, on the side.

Much love to you all…I’m floating back into my cloud of Dylan instrumentals, and allowing you to get back to your ordering.

Many thanks to the song requests, and favorite things, this week…I will be featuring all of them.

XOXO,
Cosmic Pam
