Champaign, OH:  Cosmic Weekly Trivia

It’s that time, again!! Time for your weekly chance to win a free Cosmic product, of your choice!!!

All leading up to our 10th year anniversary of the market!! I love all of your excitement, each and every week, and all of your answers!!

This week, we are still visiting the years that I used to travel to various farmers’ markets, in my yellow VW bug, selling my breads, and bringing the Cosmic fun, each and every time.

I gave you the Cosmic Classic Five, a week or so ago. Within that group, there was one of the bread varieties that was always a summer sell out at each market!! It was the one that customers waited in line to grab, and I couldn’t bake enough of it in the summer months.

Which Cosmic bread was the farmers’ market darling, no matter where I set up?

Remember…you must be an ordering customer for the week, to win!!

XOXO,
Cosmic Pam

Champaign, OH:  Astral Weeks

Astral Weeks…Van Morrison…the whole album…perfect for this rainy, windy Sunday. Pull it up, listen to it all. It’s such a hauntingly, soulful album. One of my all time favorites.

So, the market is groovin’ along, you all are ordering your Easter goods as you are also ordering your weekly goods.

It’s been a beautiful weekend to think about the incoming spring, the new growing season, and all of the seasonal products that will begin to drift back into the market.

Also, there are new woodworking offerings from Homecomer Traditions, along with new offerings from CrisMiss Farms!!

This market just continues to sail into the mystic, connecting, each and every week with you, our lovely customers.

I will update you, as the weeks come, with returning vendors, and their offerings.

I hope you have a relaxing, good vibes day…

XOXO,
Cosmic Pam

Comment from Manager: Thank you only seems like 2 small words but they are HUGE words with great impact to our great list of Growers that have came to my aide and Ben’s during our time of needs. I can not stress enough the benefits from the Teas, Tonics, Soup, prayers that have strengthen through all of this. As I slowly improve I will continue the Herbs and Salve that have gotten me through some rough evenings.

Especial THANK YOU to Justin and Mari for handling the Market and managing things for us and all others that have helped.

News from our Growers:

Sassy Cassies: has brought all our yummy side dishes back for Easter. And we have a special yeast roll for Easter morning — Carrot Cake. There are carrots in the dough, rolled up around golden raisin that have marinated in pineapple juice, combined with brown sugar and warm spices. A pecan-cream cheese icing completes theses.

Dogwood Valley Greenhouse: The very early perennial plants are coming to life very nicely. While many of them are not yet in bloom, it’s a very good time to plant them so you will be able to enjoy their whole bloom season. In bloom now is Mukdenia, the odd plant that blooms before its leaves emerge. Also the Jacob’s ladder, a couple of pincushion flowers, and Euphorbia are blooming. More perennials will be sure to burst forth in color next week! The flowering almond is a beautiful small shrub which adds to the early spring display. If you are looking for a houseplant, I have also added several African violets back to the market this week as well. While the yellow and white daffodils have finished their show, the later doubles and multi-flowers should be doing well this week. If you’d like to return your vase and/or packing box, I will be glad to recycle them.

Carole’s Herbs (CS3 Farm): We have roasted red pepper hummus, ginger fig shrub concentrate, herbal honey, herbal teas, mustard, dried wild oyster mushrooms, lettuce, Kale and some more winter salad mix.

Farrar Farm LLC: We are 3 great choices for the upcoming Holiday Menu. Our delicious Ground Beef Special is purchase 5 pounds and get an extra pound FREE! Ground Sirlon and Korean Style Short Ribs is always are great holiday treat.

Mama D’s Bakery: Hi everyone! We have everything available this week! We have Blueberry Muffins, Crusty French Bread, Organic White Wheat Bread, Mocha Muffins, Chocolate Swiss Roll, Cinnamon Rolls, Caramel Apple Cinnamon Rolls, Blueberry Lemon Yeast Rolls, Banana Bread and Pumpkin Bread(with the option of nuts or not), Bagels(plain, cinnamon-raisin, blueberry, and everything), Donuts(cake and yeast), Cream Cheese Danishes, Pies(chocolate fudge, pecan, chocolate chip pecan, pumpkin and sweet potato), Cookies, Granola and Protein Bars, Yeast Breads, Sourdough Breads, and Fruit Scones. Thanks so much to everybody for your business!

Short Mountain Cultures: we are best known for making a wide range of small batch fermented foods and beverages such as sauerkraut, kimchi, coconut Kefir(non-dairy), tempeh (soy & soy free), water kefir and kombucha. SMC also offers a varied selection of organic bulk foods from their shop ranging from beans and grains to dried fruits and raw nuts. Also amongst many locally made/ sourced options are Hatcher Dairy Milks and Alchemy of Sol Soaps.

Body & Soul Teas: We offer teas for sipping and teas for soaking. Our herbal tea blends nourish and support the body and soul. Our most popular blend, Tennessee Sunshine, is a tribute to the place I have called home for the past 18 years. It contains hibiscus, rose, and mints which impart a sweet, tart taste. It is delicious served hot or cold. We also offer blends that support specific body functions such as stress relief and digestive support.

Our bath teas and soaks offer soothing relief and relaxation to tired achy bodies. To see our full product line, read our blog, and join our newsletter, please go to http://www.bodysoulteas.com.

May you be blessed body and soul. Pat

Barefoot Acres Herbs: This week I will be working on lymphatic cleanse salve and some lotion bars. NOTE from Manager: I doubt I would not be as far as I’ve come if it wasn’t for her Healthy Soup and Salves.

Valentine Family Farm: It feels great being back on the market with one of our most requested pickles. Our delicious Pickled Okra as well as our SPICY Pickled Okra.Pickled Okra are the most beautiful and subtly complex pickles you will ever have. Our pickles include seasonal and locally wild-crafted ingredients including industrial hemp of the Finola variety. We personally grew this hemp as part of the Tennessee Department of Agriculture Pilot program. We carefully place these ingredients in the jar to display their beauty. The combination of these ingredients pickled together creates a flavor that is subtly complex like no other. Our pickles are hand made in small batches and are produced in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. We recommend ordering more than one jar. This is because many of our first time customers struggle with purchasing one jar and finishing its contents on the way home. As the seasons change we will update the ingredients. All of the ingredients are edible. Ingredients: Okra, onions, garlic, dill, Sweet Goldenrod (Solidago odora), water, apple cider vinegar, salt, peppercorns(red, green, black), lemon, Staghorn Sumac Fruit (Rhus typhina),red pepper flakes, dill seed, mustrad seed, Peppergrass (Lepidium Virginicum), Industrial Hemp (Cannabis sativa L), Queen Anne’s Lace (Daucus carota), Bushy Beard Lichen (Usnea strigosa)

Flying S Farms: Taking a brief break out of the kitchen this week, our Chicken Eggs remain available.

Delivery Service is available within a 10 mile radius of Murfreesboro, outside areas will be considered and delivery is available to Woodbury at a host location. If this is the first time you’ve requested delivery please put your address in comments before you check out….Method of Payment is Cash, Checks or Credit/Debit Cards or we can email an Invoice including a $1.00 service fee. EASTER & EGGS

Happy Week of Easter everyone! There’s no getting around that Easter and Eggs go hand in hand: colored eggs for hunting, eggs for decorating, plastic eggs hung from a tree, etc. This week seemed like a fitting time to explore some creative ways to use these little miracles of nature. Rather than pick out two or three great recipes to share this week we’re sharing a few great collections. While some are curated by moms looking to use those eggs that have done their duty in an egg hunt, most of these recipes are worth boiling a few to make! So enjoy and Happy Easter!

It’s with both sadness and understanding that we announce that Danny’s Greens is retiring from Market at Dothan. Danny has been with the Market many, MANY years and while he will continue to grow amazing produce he has decided to concentrate on growing for the pleasure of sharing with friends and family. He’s looking forward to trying some new things and remains a friend to our Market family. Danny’s is always willing to encourage those who wish to create their own backyard garden haven so if you’re up for some inspiration let Ros know and we’ll plan a visit. Danny’s garden is still the best kept secret in Henry County.
