CLG: Opening Bell: Mushrooms, Potatoes, Eggs, Cabbage!
Hello friends!
It’s sauerkraut season! Lots of excellent cabbage listed this week. Sauerkraut is easy to make even if you’ve never tried it. Several great videos on YouTube will show you how.
Holy basil plants are now listed. Get several for your garden and enjoy their sweet scent all season long. Attracts pollinators too!
Lots of happy faces at the market on Friday when they found the first batch of those amazingly crunchy, zesty dill pickles! (Wickles) It’ll change your life, one sandwich at a time. If you didn’t get a jar, I’ll be making them again in a week or two.
Be sure to SEARCH for your favorite items using the search field. For instance, type in the word “sale” or “pork” and see what pops up. We have over 400 items available now!
Most items are listed by 6pm Sunday, but check back again before the market closes Tuesday night to see if any other items are ready to be harvested for you! Eat fresh! Eat local! Eat for better health!
And save your eggshells throughout the week for the laying hens! :-)
In accordance with the current guidelines, we will not have more than 10 people in the lobby at any time. We have four volunteers who can bring your order to your car if you prefer, just call or text 501-339-1039.
The market is now OPEN for orders. Click here to start shopping: *https://conway.locallygrown.net/market

Champaign, OH: Pretty In Pink
Pretty in pink, isn’t she?
Pretty in pink, isn’t she?
(Psychedelic Furs)
Happy Sunday!! And, welcome to my trip down the 80s college/club days, to me, with my song lyric pick for the day.
My weekend has been full of both nostalgia, and of planning for the new. So, both of these thought processes are colliding into this old favorite song.
Nostalgia because on Friday evening, I attended a grad party, in the town I grew up in, for the daughter of one of my best friends from high school, in a location that used to be the site of many a high school party for all of us. Both on the up and up, and the down low…lol. She graduated from our high school, so it was just all very surreal to be back in that setting. I was an ’82 graduate, and this song was part of my summer soundtrack in those 80s summers.
And, well, the title, Pretty in Pink is lending itself to my now planning for the new, as I am heavy into planning for my daughter’s bridal shower. A champagne filled affair with nothing by blush and pink florals, settings, dishware. Petite food, flowers, and bubbly…and, me, on a mission to locate/buy/borrow vintage pink glassware for the bridal brunch. So, if any of you have any leads, give me a shout!! I’ve started collecting but need more…in pink. Or blush. Because it will all be pretty in pink. I also love that the event will be bursting in pink because we were both members of a sorority that was heavily steeped in pink as one of it’s colors.
AND..the color pink is my weblog theme, today, because I see that the Flourish girls have added their lovely peonies to the market, AND, ChrisMis Farms have added their chocolate mint to the market, looking like it has a pink hue to it!
So, that’s it…my world is awash in pinks, thoughts of pinks, looking at the world through rose colored glasses, and loving this market, and this little market community…
It’s a lovely day, the sun is streaming in, and it’s a great day for planning your market orders!
Stay in the pink, lovelies, and enjoy your day…
XOXO,
Cosmic Pam

From Dogwood Valley Greenhouse:
Dogwood Valley Greenhouse heirloom tomato plants are almost gone. Get yours while you can! Similarly, the hanging baskets are almost gone. But the Fresh-Cut Herbs will be around for a while; plan to freeze or dry some for later use.
The many various types, sizes, and colors of hostas will be a great addition to your shady area, and many of them are just coming into bloom now. I still have a couple colors of astilbes, for great texture combinations with the hostas. And for the sunny areas, the coneflower collection cannot be beat.

SUMMERTIME, AND THESE SALADS ARE EASY
We couldn’t resist! With the summer temps climbing and so much beautiful produce it seemed only fitting to explore some yummy summer salads.
Salads are such easy things – you toss some ingredients together with a dressing and serve. They can serve as sides, main dishes or even desserts such as fruit salad or trifle.
The salads that follow use many Market ingredients currently in season. We hope it inspires your culinary imagination!

Top Left: This Kale Salad with Blueberries and Quinoa is loaded with antioxidants. If you’re not a fan of quinoa other grains could be substituted. Popped Sorghum would be a delightfully crunchy substitute.
Top Right: ITALIAN SUB SALAD ! All the deliciousness of a sub sandwich without the bread.
Bottom Left: This Grilled Vegetable Summer Salad is a great reason to grill extra vegetables.
Bottom Right: Last but not least, another sandwich type salad minus the bread: Summer BLT Chopped Salad.

Martin's Farmstand: Strawberries are ripening!
We have 64 quarts of picked strawberries at the stand today @ $6.75 per quart. Theese berries are from Melvin Hoover’s farm. They smell wonderful and the flavor is rich and full. He is one of the local, no spray growers that feed this farm stand. He used season extension techniques to get a patch to ripen early.
Strawberries are ripening fast!. The fruit set is excellent with millions of green berries every where one looks. I am seeing quite a few red with green tips berries in the fields so I anticipate that we may be opening for the first u-pick day as soon as next Saturday (June 12) (This is still a tentative date. I will walk the fields midweek and write again about what I see).
