Champaign, OH: Happy New Year-2022!
Good morning, happy entry into the new year, and happy 11th year of your favorite little local market!!
Can you believe that as we jump into this brand new year, we are also looking at year 11??
If you are a new customer, or do not know our humble beginnings, or a new vendor who is just learning our history, I am going to spend time, in this 11th year, sharing tiny snippets of how it all began…the not so pretty background…lol. Not that it wasn’t good, but it was a hard startup, not a whole lot of support or love, and not at all the beauty of what it is, now!
But, here we are, going strong, now moving into our second year at the farm, and still adding new customers.
If you are just entering as a customer, this is how all communication from me, will happen. This little weblog, my ramblings, alerts, announcements, vendor write ups…it all happens, here, at market central, or maybe it should be called the market clubhouse.
We encourage you to look around, get to know the vendors, and products, and throw us some orders! It’s fast, easy, and then, at pick up, you can be as contactless as you would like, or, you can roll your window down for chatting, while we fill your order.
Our long standing, core customers, have become like family. The vendors are the most amazing to work with, and both, old and new, our vendors bring their A game!
I am your long time market manager, Pam, and I will be your contact for all things market. I also operate Cosmic Charlie Breads/Soups, and co-operate, Hippie and the Farmer.
You have a co-market manager, Mark, who also has Oakview Farm Meats, and is co-operator of Hippie and the Farmer, and provides the lovely location where the market is housed.
And, on pick up, you will also get to know my trusty father, who loves to come up on pick up day, help with orders, putters around at little upkeep jobs, and will even sometimes help load your orders. He will be gone, for most of the winter, but look for him in the spring.
We are very strict on products, vendors, and how we run things. It’s important to the market, that you are getting the best of the best!
I also run fun little contests, one of which I will be kicking off, this week! My weblogs usually are drawn off of song titles or lyrics, and again…here is where you get the information hotline!
Have a lovely new day, in this brand new year, and while it is a rainy day, go ahead and start your orders. Oh, and the orders close, promptly, each and every Tuesday morning at 8am!
AND…on a side note…Old Souls Farm said that their Bibb, and their Basil are all back up, plentiful, and beautiful!!
XOXO,
Cosmic Pam

Miami County Locally Grown: Happy New Year!
The second verse of O Holy Night began as I drove back to Fletcher from my last Market the 21st – “Truly He taught us to love one another – His Law is Love, and His Gospel is Peace”.
What an appropriate ending to my Market experience. My customers, you customers, have shown me that in spades.
I am content knowing Erin has the reins. I respect her, and having known her intimately as both a CSA and herdshare customer on our little farm, I know her commitment to Local food is honest and lasting.
Mother of three, a fellow Michigan native (GO BLUE – how well have I held THAT one in all these years ;-) ), a registered nurse and then homeschooler, I appreciated her first as a loyal, patient customer and quickly grew to like and appreciate her as a person. I want to thank her for stepping in!
But more than anything I want to thank you customers for your sincerity, genuine openness, gracious natures, and considerate hearts.
One night recently I said to the children, “Ok, time to load up and head home.” Two and a half year old Anna looked at me curiously and said, “Which home, Momma?”
So while I miss you dearly already, I feel Blessed to part with the Market so our family life can get back to our extraordinary level of fun, manageable chaos, and not the stress of the last while.
Our lives are richer for you having been a wonderful part of them. Thank you for allowing us to be even a tiny part of yours. We deeply appreciate your good will and support.
May God bless and keep you especially during this most Holy Season, and long into the New Year. A Joyous, Healthy 2022 to you all!
Lee, Jennifer, Lucy, Joseph, Mary, Molly, and Anna Ruff

Grumpy Goat: Weblog Entry
We hope that everyone had an amazing holiday season and will have a great New Year!
Ordering is open for the week! For those that haven’t heard yet, the actual farm store won’t be open for in person shopping until next spring (April!). For the rest of the winter please pre order and we will have it ready for you to pick up on Tuesdays 2-6:30 in the farm store. On really cold days we may keep your orders inside the house until you arrive – otherwise they will be set up in the farm store. The barn is just too cold to keep stocked with the honey/jam/bath products all winter!
Matt has set up the tunnel with a new wood burner and radiator in order to try and keep the greens going all year! We have listed a few new offerings: a kale variety bunch, a Salad Mix (including kales, chard, lettuce, pac choi, tatsoi, mustard greens, arugula, cabbage greens, etc), and a bunch of Mizuna! We should have a other new offerings next week so stay tuned.
I also wanted to touch on the fact that our prices are fluctuating a little. Due to increases in most, if not all, of our supplies we’ve deemed it necessary to raise some of our bread and jam prices. We are also temporarily raising the winter greens pricing a bit to compensate for the added resources we need to keep them going. It is an experiment for us to see if there is enough interest in our winter production. Thanks for your understanding.
And remember to bring back your empty jars (jam, honey, or syrup). We can give a $.50 credit towards your next purchase with all jar returns!!!
