GROWER & MARKET NOTES
I don’t know about you, but April excites me! It’s officially spring, flowers are blooming everywhere, the honeybees are in full swing bringing in nectar, days are warm, nights are cool – life is bursting every which way you turn. For us at Hortons Farm April Fools Day brought a sweet surprise – puppies! We have five sweet little ones, now with fat little bellies, to tend to. There’s nothing like new life to remind us of the miracle of life.
Saturday, April 9, 2022: Farmers Market Saturday
RICHTER FARMS will be offline for the foreseeable future as Viki heals from a fractured wrist sustained in an auto accident. She sends thanks for your understanding and desires prayer for healing and for the family as they cope with the situation. If anyone would like to send cards feel free to message us ([email protected]) for the address.
AVALON FARMS: And suddenly it’s Spring! Ha Ha The blackberries and blueberries are blooming. The onions and garlic are thinking about bulbing. There might even be a tomato bloom out there. Put the first round of squash and cucumber seeds in the ground. It just snowballs from here!
We’re trying our hand at lettuce this year. We grew a few heads last year, which did pretty well and tasted great. So we are going bigger this year. Lettuce will start in the greenhouse then be transplanted out in the field at 3 or 4 weeks. This means every week lettuce has to be started and transplanted. Currently there are 2 sets in the field and 3 more sets growing in the greenhouse. Hoping the first ones will be ready to harvest in a few more weeks.
We thank you for your interest and support of our efforts to bring you the healthiest, the freshest and the most delicious locally-produced foods possible!

Thank you for choosing Northeast Georgia Locally Grown as a way to support your local producers. This online farmers market allows you to buy directly from multiple farms committed to chemical-free and local produce all year long! CHEMICAL-FREE means produce and pastures grown without synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, or insecticides. LOCAL means within 80 miles from the market pickup locations (usually much much closer). Do you know someone who grows chemical-free food in the area? Get them in touch with us. Know someone who wants fresh food? Spread the word. Put the two together, and that’s growing organically!
PICKUP TIME is Wednesday from 5-6:30 p.m.
If you do not get an email ORDER CONFIRMATION right after you order then your order is NOT complete. Log back in and your order might still be there waiting for you to check out! If you have any trouble or questions at all, we are here to help; simply reply to this email.
COVID19: Thanks for recognizing we can all do our part in operating in the safest way possible. Be on the lookout for the order reminder email with any changes to pickup or ways you can help minimize risk for our volunteers and each other. Thanks for your support!*

Champaign, OH: The Long Awaited Return!
We are welcoming back the Stadlers, of Valley View Woodlands with their maple syrup varieties!! So exciting!! The season happened, and now they are back with the loveliness…
And, a note from the Stadlers:
Maple syrup is back on the market! Shary and Marc Stadler at Valley View Woodlands have just completed their annual maple syrup season. Unlike large commercial producers, Marc and Shary keep each batch separate so that buyers can enjoy the different flavors of the season. Color and flavor change during the season as temperatures rise. Early season Golden has a delicate vanilla-butterscotch flavor, Amber is rich, and Dark is robust. Golden, Amber, and Dark are all available on the market.Maple syrup is not just for pancakes anymore. Try it on yogurt, in salad dressings, and in many recipes such as barbeque sauce. It’s loaded with nutrients that table sugar doesn’t have.
Thank you!
Shary
Champaign, OH: Welcome To The Week!
Market customers…it was a COLD one, this evening, and a windy one!!
It was lovely to see all of your smiling faces, and thank you for the warm welcome backs!! Though, I have to admit…a large part of me was missing the warm sunshine, drifting around the pool or exploring the beach, dockside cafes, and any other warm weather activity I was engaged in while on vacation!
But, then, I did miss you all, and this lovely little market!!
So, here we are with a brand new week of ordering, just waiting for you!
And, on a sudsy note, ELM Tree Essentials is another vendor, returning, with 6 soap scents, and 3 more coming in 2 weeks!!
It’s like coming home week, with all of the returning vendors!!
Also, a note from Gourmet Fibers…they will be out for a few more weeks, but will keep us updated as to their return!!
And, with that, I am off to pour a glass of wine, and warm up!
XOXO,
Cosmic Pam
