Champaign, OH:  Just Peachy!!

For your market pleasure, we will have another visit from Herr Family Farms!!

They will be set up in the lobby with their most amazing crop of peaches!! They have been bringing them to the Mechanicsburg market, and I have been living on them…so good!!!

Their peaches are also featured, this month, with Hippie and the Farmer!!

Bring a bit of extra cash, tonight, AND, you don’t have to be a customer of orders, tonight. Anyone can rush in to grab up the sweetness!!

Show them some peachy kind of love…

Peace, Love, Good Vibes…

Champaign, OH:  Ribbons, Ribbons, Ribbons

Annie laid her head down in the roses…
She had ribbons, ribbons, ribbons
in her long brown hair…
I don’t know, it must have been the roses…
All I know is I could not leave her there…
(It Must Have Been The Roses-Grateful Dead)

Ribbons…they make the world go round, they are in the best song lyrics, they are the most colorful parts of a music festival. They flow, they are free, they are any color of the rainbow, they are happiness…

And, today, is a ribbon day for your two market managers!!

Myself, and Mark, are cutting the ribbon to our business, Hippie and the Farmer, with our local Champaign County Chamber!! If you find yourself with a bit of free time, between 4pm-6pm, this evening, come out to help us celebrate!!

The Hippie and the Farmer fully licensed, commercial kitchen is located out on St. Rt. 54 at Oakview Farm Meats! See our private Hippie and the Farmer kitchen, grab some Hippie and the Farmer food, mix and mingle, and join us in one of our gardens for our ribbon cutting!!

With that being said…we have a very special volunteer working our market!! He will be handing out vendor checks, and then handing out customer orders!! Be nice to Doug, help him out, if necessary, and don’t forget to be patient…we will be back, next week!!

Ribbons…they are everything!

Peace, Love, Good Vibes…

Fisher's Produce:  Bristow Farm Stand Today!

Hello Friends,

We will be in Bristow this evening from 5:00 to 6:00pm at the Tractor Supply parking lot. This may be our last delivery of the season as we are heading back to Africa in two weeks and may be packing next Wednesday. We will be serving in
The Democraric Republic of the Congo through the end of January. We would love to see you all one last time for the year.

The sweet corn is finished, but we will have plenty of tomatoes, sweet (and hot) peppers, eggplant, onions, and garlic. The peppers are nice right now and will store for several weeks, and onions and garlic for months! Stock up while you can!

Blessings,

Luke and Chantee.

ALFN Local Food Club:  The Market Is Open

ALFN Members,

Welcome to another week in the market! As a few mid-summer crops are starting to dwindle and our growers continue preparations for fall, be sure to stock up on the smorgasbord. And don’t miss the first offerings of our newest vendor, Ozark Natural Breads. They’re offering a trio of tasty granolas, which you can find in the Baked Goods category.

And a note from another of our favorite farmers:
“Crimmins family farm will be taking a week off in order to get our fields planted for both the second part of summer plus the fall garden. We hope to have more tomatoes, green beans, purple hull peas, zucchini and yellow squash, and the fall crops of lettuce and all the greens, etc. Thanks for your support and we’ll be back next week.”

Don’t forget to sign up for a Volunteer Spot for this Saturday’s market. It is always a treat to earn ALFN credit and rub shoulders with other members!

Have a great week!

Miami County Locally Grown:  Market will Open for Orders August 2nd!!

My name is Jennifer Ruff, and as the market manager for Miami County Locally Grown, THANK YOU for registering for our market!

I hope you’re as excited as I am to watch the products being posted until opening day August 2nd when we can finally place our orders!

My husband and I have been vendors at the virtual farmer’s market in Urbana for 4 years now, and the support we’ve received from those market managers, both as a vendor and customer, has been unparalleled. They care about and really know each participant, creating a vibrant little family who supports each other unconditionally.

We will have our own kinks to work out especially now in the beginning, but I am grateful for the advice and example of those Urbana folks, and am thrilled to bring the virtual market concept to Miami County where I hope and believe it will flourish and grow.

Thank you also to our county health department for their willingness to work with us on this very new and unique market concept!

Stay tuned for market news, updates, and spotlights on each of our amazing vendors and their varied, wonderful products!

The Cumming Harvest - Closed:  This Week at The Cumming Harvest

THIS WEEK

Seems like every year about this time, it suddenly hits me that summer is almost over and the new school year is almost upon us. Even though we might have the hottest few days of the summer this week, it’s time to start thinking about the cool season.

The new school year brings new people to town, and new customers. Welcome, all of you! We’ve already seen quite a few new faces these past few weeks. If you ever have any questions about how our market operates, please don’t hesitate to shoot me an email or talk with me during pickups. The new year also changes existing household routines, so it’s easy to forget it’s Saturday and you’ve got an order waiting for you. I do make phone calls to everyone who hasn’t arrived by 12pm. I get a lot of home phone and office numbers, so now’s a good time to make sure you’ve got a mobile number on your account if you have one. You can change your contact info and several other account details on the Your Account page of the website.
