Champaign, OH: When I Paint My Masterpiece
Someday, everything is gonna be smooth like a rhapsody…
When I paint my masterpiece…
(When I Paint My Masterpiece-Bob Dylan, also The Band, also The Grateful Dead, but written by Dylan)
So…I am super excited to add another new vendor, this evening!! She is talented, she is super upbeat, and I love her stuff!! I have followed her on Facebook, met her at Octoberfest, purchased one of her body sugar scrubs, fell in LOVE with it, just bought another jar of it, from her, and asked her to join our little local market of love!!
But…along with her scrubs, she is also going to add her art!! I love having all kinds of artisans on our market. And, it’s not too early to begin thinking about the gift giving season, and what better gift, than a locally produced piece of art…
So, a big hello to Emily, of Art by Adair!!
XOXO,
Cosmic Pam
Champaign, OH: Cherry Cherry!
She got the way to move me, Cherry baby
She got the way to groove me…
(Cherry, Cherry-Neil Diamond)
What better song to usher in the intro to our new vender, who listed homemade cherry pie as her first variety for the market!!
Tonight we introduce, Ruthie’s Pies!!
Ruth is actually Ruth Runyan, part of the Oakview Farm Meats gang. Actually, to be truthful, she keeps them all in line, on the farm, and in the shop!! She is a powerhouse of energy, and her pies, and other baked goods are amazing!!
She has had impressive careers as both a home economics teacher, and was basically the founder of the original Rothschild’s recipes for jams, etc!! And, now, she brings all of her know how of all things kitchen and baking to our market!!
Go, get your orders in, and, why not throw in a homemade pie to take away?
Cherry, cherry…groove me…
XOXO,
Cosmic Pam

GFM : Physical Market Closed
Christmas is almost upon us. This year has really flown by.
Our physical market may be closed for the season, but we have Vendors who have things to offer all year. Don’t forget them just because you can’t see them. They have posted things here on this online market especially for you.
Stop by each week, October to May, right here to see what has been added by each vendor. We have some handmade crafts, homemade breads, jam’s, jellies, baked goods, and yes some produce like, lettuce, carrots grown in a green house, and even some Direct Sales vendors are joining us here.
So come back each week. Who knows, you may even find that one of a kind christmas gift for that special someone in your life. 27 more days till Christmas.
Be nice not naughty.
Santa is watching.
Champaign, OH: Killer Queen
She keeps her Moet et Chandon
In her pretty cabinet
‘Let them eat cake’ she says
Just like Marie Antoinette…
(Killer Queen-Queen)
Because, in my personal Halloween party playlists, this has always been a must, AND, because I am counting the minutes to the debut of the Queen movie, Bohemian Rhapsody…like, counting down the minutes.
And…it makes for a nice song added into our Halloween market playlist!!
Well, it’s the spookiest week…it’s Halloween week!! And, it’s also time to come out of your Halloween weekend party haze, and get your orders in, for the week!!
So much to offer, and so much added to this market, to make your life easier, helps you to keep it local, and offers you year round goodness and super affordable prices!
You have until Wednesday morning…but don’t get left out of the ghoulish fun…order before you hit the streets for trick or treat!! After all the sugar that you will be gathering, wouldn’t it be nice to have all kinds of good for you things, ready and waiting?
XOXO,
Cosmic Pam

Market News
I don’t have anything newsworthy for you this week, except for a commemoration that it’s been exactly nine years since we moved our Thursday pickups to Ben’s Bikes. We’ve very grateful for all their support over the years, and I’m glad we found a nice stable home for this long. Thank you to all the wonderful folks there!
This coming Friday night, the Athens Area Homeless Shelter is hosting their annual Harvest fund raising event. I think everyone knows the homelessness remains a severe problem, both as a society and as a community. The AAHS plays a key role in helping women and children here in Athens, and every dollar gets put to good use. A ticket to the event gets you an evening of live music, wine+beer+cocktails, delicious food, and a silent auction full of donations from many of your favorite local business, artists, and even some ALG growers. You can find more information here: https://www.helpathenshomeless.org/harvest-for-the-homeless
And thank you so much for your support of Athens Locally Grown, all of our growers, local food, and our rights to eat it. You all are part of what makes Athens such a great area in which to live. We’ll see you on Thursday at Ben’s Bikes at the corner of Pope and Broad Streets from 4:30 to 8pm!
Other Area Farmers Markets
The Athens Farmers Market runs Saturday mornings at Bishop Park and Wednesday afternoons at Creature Comforts downtown. You can catch the news on their website. The West Broad Farmers Market has returned, and you can catch the details on their website here: www.athenslandtrust.org/west-broad-farmers-market/. The Comer Farmers’ Market is open on Saturday mornings from 9am to noon. Check www.facebook.com/comerfm for more information. Washington, GA also has a lovely little Saturday market, running Saturdays from 9 to noon. You can learn all about them here: www.washingtonfarmersmkt.com. Folks to the east can check out the Hartwell Farmers Market, which starts bright and early on Saturday morning from 7am to noon, and Tuesday afternoons from noon to 4pm. The city of Monroe has a downtown market on Saturdays, 8:30 to 12:30, and you can learn more here: www.monroedowntown.com/events/monroe-farmers-market. If you know of any other area markets operating, please let me know.
All of these other markets are separate from ALG (including the Athens Farmers Market) but many growers sell at multiple markets. Please support your local farmers and food producers, where ever you’re able to do so!
We thank you for your interest and support of our efforts to bring you the healthiest, the freshest, and the most delicious locally-produced foods possible!
