Dawson Local Harvest: Let's Talk Turkey for November!
Dawson Local Harvest for November 2nd
Let’s Talk Turkey for November!
HI EVERYBODY!
Indeed, let’s talk Turkey for November, humanely raised farm-fresh pastured Turkeys from SAWNEE ACRES, a small family farm near Cumming. They raise Turkeys for Thanksgiving and Christmas, and are listing for the first time on the Dawson Local Harvest. Here’s how it works. You order the size Turkey you want, small, medium, or large, (10 to 25 lb.) and either pay for the whole Turkey in advance or pay a $25 deposit, with the balance due upon pickup. The cost is $5 a pound, actual price determined by weight on delivery. You can ask for specific sizes via email (like 10 lbs., 18 lbs., etc.) and we’ll try to match your request. DELIVERY will be during our Special Thanksgiving Market Day on Tuesday, Nov. 20th, 3 to 6 pm!
Always love to see what CULTURED TRADITIONS has cooking! Here’s a couple of new things. First up, Fermented Okra, made from fresh-picked Okra with their characteristically distinctive flavorings. Secondly, a new seasonal Jun flavor Pumpkin Spice they’ve developed, and one of their best-sellers, Garlic Dill Pickles, is also back in stock. These and other delectable are in the Fermented / Probiotic section
Finally, in Produce a couple of new additions join the Vegetable roster. Shelling Peas, which are so tasty when fresh-picked like this, plus a lovely new Radish Mix to spice things up.
THE MARKET IS NOW OPEN!
REMEMBER! You can now order until Tuesday night at 9 pm. Pick up your order at Leilani’s Gardens Friday afternoons from 4 to 6 pm.

Foothills Market: The Market Is Open!
Yesterday was the last day of the season for the Johnson County Community Farmers’ Market on the courthouse square, complete with a dedication of the art alley to Sue Kinsey, who was instrumental in starting the market. But even though there won’t be a market downtown again until April, you don’t have to do without fresh produce and locally produced meats and other goodies. Foothills Market is open to get you through the off-season!
Browse the market between now and Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. Make your list of items, click the “place your order” button, and it’s that easy. Your order will be ready for pickup at the Food for Thought Garden Thursday afternoon.
We are changing the pickup times to better match the times when most people actually come to get their orders. Pickup will be from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Thursday; if this is a problem for you, contact us and we’ll try to work something out.
Eat something fresh this week!

CLG: Opening Bell: FREE JAM, Honey, Fudge, Bacon
Good afternoon!
Given the choice between TRICK, or TREAT, most people would choose TREAT. It’s along those lines that this week we are offering a FREE half-pint of Jam or Jelly. This week, when you spend $50 or more, you can choose a FREE half-pint of Jam or Jelly from Maria’s Homemade Country Fare. So get your Meat, Eggs, Shiitakes, Honey, Vegetables, Fruit, and Sweets, and then when you get over $50 in your shopping cart, simply find your favorite Jam or Jelly half-pint and add it to your cart. At checkout on Friday, we will deduct that amount from your total…#freeisgood!
Check out the Sweet Potatoes and Apples now being harvested for you from Drewry Orchard.
For the best salad you have ever eaten, get some Salad Mix from Calvert Enterprises this week. It holds in the refrigerator for over a week!
Maria will be set up on Friday afternoon with a full assortment of her delicious canned items: Pickles, Okra, Eggs, and of course, lots of Jams & Jellies, but also Chocolate Covered Cherries and Strawberries!
Cooler temperatures means it’s time to think about feeding our feathered friends over the winter. An easy way to do this is with suet cakes. We will have some on the extras table all season for only $1 each. And I am making some birdfeeders to hold the suet cakes. Look for those on the extras table this Friday.
Be sure to SEARCH for your favorite items using the search field. Over 400 items available now!
Most items are listed by 6pm Sunday, but check back again before the market closes Tuesday night to see if any other items are ready to be harvested for you! Eat fresh! Eat local! Eat for better health!
And save your eggshells throughout the week for the laying hens! :-)
The market is now OPEN for orders. Click here to start shopping:

Please check your email a few minutes after you place your order to make sure you get an order confirmation. Thank you!
