Foothills Market: The Market Is Open!
Winter is a challenging time for farmers on Foothills Market. The cold and the wet are not ideal growing conditions, even for winter-hardy plants. Sometimes, a sudden dip below freezing can decimate a crop you thought was safe inside a tunnel house, as with the cauliflower at the Food for Thought Garden.
That’s all to say our vegetable offerings are slim this week – but we still have plenty of beef and pork that you can trust to have been ethically and sustainably grown and harvested. We also have a selection of baked goods that feature crops like pumpkin and zucchini that grew and were frozen last summer when the weather was sunny and hot!
Keep an eye on the market this week, since our growers will probably update their listings as they see how plants are reacting to the weather. Choose the items you want between now and Wednesday at 5:00 p.m., and click the button to place your order. We’ll have the items ready for pickup on Thursday afternoon between 4:30-5:30.
Eat something fresh this week!
The Wednesday Market: Ordering Time is Upon Us
Good afternoon.
This is your weekly reminder that the Market is open for orders. Please place your order by 10 p.m. Monday. Orders are ready for pick up between 3 and 6 p.m. Wednesday. See the website for this week’s product listings. Here is the link: https://wednesdaymarket.locallygrown.net/market
We hope you are somewhere warm and cozy on this cold, dreary day! It’s a perfect occasion for a good book and a mug of hot tea. Or a nap. Yes, a nap sounds good to me! At any rate, we hope you all have a good evening, and we’ll see you at the Market.
Thanks,
Beverly
Miami County Locally Grown: A good example of Hope
No question – Farmers are an optimistic lot. With a winter wonderland outside, to be planning your garden and starting your seeds, knowing those crops won’t bear until mid-summer? That’d make a good definition of Hope, with a capital H :-)
Pouring over seed catalogs while winter rages – now that’s thrilling! New varieties, ideas, and plenty of potential for a prosperous upcoming season!
Is there something you’d like to see on the Market? It’s planning time, and we want your input!
Send an email to [email protected], or Reply to this Weblog email, and let us know!
And don’t leave your items in your Shopping Cart – finish that one last step when you’re Checking Out! Make sure you submit that order! ;-)
We’re open til 8pm tonight!!

So, yes…we have our January snow, and it’s all pretty, and it was sort of nice to be house bound, yesterday, but now I’m all about sunshine, thoughts of spring, and thoughts of quick melting of the snow.
I am a one snow for the season kind of girl! Plus, my furnace went out, over night. Plus, I’m cold…not helping with my desire to flee for warmer beaches, places, fun…
So, to pass my time while waiting for my furnace guy to return my text, I am going to order my weekly items from the market! How about we all have a moment of ordering. I mean, what else are you going to do?
I’m just sitting here, dreaming away…
XOXO,
Cosmic Pam
CLG: Tamales! Opening Bell: Honey, Kale, Lettuce, Sweet Potatoes!
Good afternoon!
This Friday we’ll have Doña Estela’s amazing homemade Tamales! She will make them Friday morning and have them at market Friday afternoon. They will be 5 for $7 in 3 flavors: Pork, Chicken, or Jalapeño & Cheese. To place an order, please add a note to your CLG order, or text me at 501-339-1039. Delicious with sides of refried beans and rice, topped with a bit of salsa and sour cream.
Friday we saw some amazing produce from our new Grower, St. Joseph Urban Farm. The Radishes, Lettuce, and Greens were some of the best I’ve ever seen. Take a look at their products and you’ll agree.
Flying C Ranch has added several new Beef products, including Stew Meat and Bones for broth. Their cattle are grass-fed until 120 days before processing, when they are fed locally ground grain which enhances meat tenderness and marbling.
Be sure to SEARCH for your favorite items using the search field. Almost 600 items available now!
Most items are listed by 6pm Sunday, but check back again before the market closes Tuesday night to see if any other items are ready to be harvested for you! Eat fresh! Eat local! Eat for better health!
And save your eggshells throughout the week for the laying hens! :-)
The market is now OPEN for orders. Click here to start shopping:

Please check your email a few minutes after you place your order to make sure you get an order confirmation. Thank you!

Farm News of the Week
Hope Harrison of Hope for Health is still on ‘vacation.’ From her Facebook page:
Psalm 127:3-5
3 Children are a heritage from the Lord,
offspring a reward from him.
4 Like arrows in the hands of a warrior
are children born in one’s youth.
5 Blessed is the man
whose quiver is full of them.
We are so happy and proud to introduce Jesse Harrison, born on January 10, 2019 at 5:54 am weighing 9 lbs 13 oz. and measuring 22". Children are truly a blessing from the Lord! Hallelujah!
