Athens Locally Grown:  ALG Reminder: We are closed this week!


Hi there! This is just a reminder that Athens Locally Grown will be closed this week to allow our growers to celebrate Christmas and all the other holidays occurring this week. We shall return at our regular time next week.

Thank you so much for your support of Athens Locally Grown, all of our growers, local food, and our rights to eat it. You all are part of what makes Athens such a great area in which to live. We’ll see you next week!

Order anytime this week for Pickup whenever you say you want it. We will be Harvesting on Wed the 23rd if you want to pick up before Christmas. Or you can order to pick up over the weekend. Just let me know.

We Are Flexible, TELL ME if you want to make special arrangements for produce, I am open and willing especially now. I just need to know the day before so I can harvest anything that needs early morning handling and I like to know when to expect people to show up.

Remember to tell me when you want to pick up! (and if I don’t reply to confirm within a day, bump my e-mail or text me 407-342-8515. Though I have cleaned up my e-mail so hopefully I won’t Miss Anyone.)

Welcome to the December 20th and 21st Stones River Locally Grown Online Farmers Market, our last Market for 2020, GREAT THINGS are planned for 2021 Market starting January 2nd. Thank you to our Growers and Customers for making our Stones River Locally Grown Market a success in 2020. This is our last Market of 2020, pick up and delivery will be TUESDAY this week so family and friends have time to be together and or travel travel. Be sure to stock up with your favorite things. The Market will be taking a brief break and will be CLOSED December 23rd thru January 2nd. The 2021 will begin our New Market Year opening January 3rd and 4th for ordering and Pick up and Delivery Wednesday 6th 2021!

Farrar Farm LLC: Congratulations to Jeff Farrar with his new position with MTSU, unfortunately he will be needing to take break from the Market and will return as soon as he can.

Sassy Cassies: We have some great brunch items to make the holidays stress free. Our products are found in the Frozen Meals Category. We have our new Cranberry-Orange yeast rolls, Ham & Swiss Sweet Potato yeast rolls, Breakfast Casserole and Biscuits & Gravy casserole. Stock up on our delicious casserole entrees and side dishes too. They are delivered frozen and will freeze well for two months. These would make a great gift for just about anyone.

Sow’s Ear Piggery: this week we have a special offering for the holidays, we have one remaining pork belly, at 13 pounds. Belly can be made into bacon (with a simple salt-sugar rub and left to cure in the fridge for a week) or can be enjoyed as a savory meal braised in the oven. Either way, a simple process with extravagant results. We have also updated quantities on the market for our usual products like ground pork, chops, cutlets, breakfast sausage, and brats. As always, our pork is non-GMO, no corn or soy, non-medicated, free-range, USDA.

Oakview Farm: we have fresh kale, arugula, and lettuce on sale this week! These greens are never sprayed with any chemicals so you know they will be good for your family! We also have some of our Green Tomato Marmalade left — great on toast, with cheese and crackers or on a bacon grilled cheese sandwich.

Mama D’s Baker: Hi everyone!! Merry Christmas week!! We have everything available this week to meet your Christmas baking needs. Baked goods make great gifts for neighbors and friends too! We have the Peppermint Patty Chocolate Cake Roll, Chocolate Swiss Roll, Cinnamon Rolls, Caramel Apple Cinnamon Rolls, Blueberry Lemon Yeast Rolls, Pumpkin Spice Bagels, banana breads and pumpkin breads(with the option of nuts or not) gingerbread cake roll, pumpkin cake roll, spicy ginger cookies, pumpkin streusel jumbo muffins, bagels(plain, cinnamon raisin, blueberry, and everything), donuts, cheese Danishes, pies(chocolate fudge, pecan, chocolate chip pecan, pumpkin and sweet potato), cookies, granola and protein bars, breads, and fruit scones. Carole Herbs (CS3 Farm): We have some delicious red romaine lettuce, pickled black walnuts, Italian parsley, and Siberian kale available. We have a limited supply of our ginger fig shrub, too.

Terry Treasures: Are you stuck on finding a gift for someone, I create cactus and succulent gardens. Each design is unique, no two are exactly alike. Planters and designs vary in size from extra small to large. If you have a special container you would like me to use, I can also do that. Prefect for that someone you can decide what to give them, these will brighten their day every day of the year. Easy to maintain, I include directions.

Simons Co. Elderberry: This is the season for giving… but not colds etc. Build you immunity using our Elderberry Syrup, your health will thank you later.

Body and Soul Teas:
Our Herbal Teas Blends will go great with Holiday meal. Herbal tea blends for sipping and soaking. My current product line includes herbal tea blends, bath teas, and herbal steams. During the colder weather our Herbal Steam #2 is design to ease upper respiratory discomfort.

Flying S Farms:
This week produce available include; Salad Onions, Sweet Potatoes, Purple, Cauliflower, Daikon Radishes, Turnips Greens, Winter Squash: Blue Hubbard and Kuri Hubbard, both delicious as a side dish or pies!, along with Acorn, Butternut and Carnival Squash. Processed items: Assorted Friendship Breads, Pumpkin and Orange Cranberry Breads, Brownies and Lemon bars, Pumpkins Cookies are back on the market. Artisan Breads and Biscuits (Sour Cream or Buttermilk, also I’m happy to freeze them for you). As well as our Sour Dough Breads in loaves and rolls. We have been updating several of our Jams..Newly added..Ghostly Pear Jelly, a blend of Pear Syrup from our Pear Preserves with Seriously HOT Ghost Peppers, great for spicing up many things! Christmas Jam (Cranberry + Strawberry) and Cowboy Candy (Candied Jalapenos), Dark Cherry Jam and Seriously HOT Strawberry, we keep Jammin’ so be sure to check back.
