Wedge Oak Farm: Order Till Friday AM for Saturday Pick UP
Hi Everyone!
We hope you’re having great start to the week! We certainly have a lot going on out here at the moment; this week we will be taking hogs, sheep, and chickens to process and should have them butchered for you all to enjoy by early next week.
And if you follow us on social media, then I’m sure you have seen the new additions to our family, Rita and Rosie – our two new livestock pups. They’re keeping us all smiles out here even with the ever-changing weather.
We still have plenty of chicken and pork cuts, sausage, as well as, bones, necks and feet for all of your broth needs. Keep an eye out on the online market for a fresh batch of Headcheese that we just made too!
Best

Washtenaw Organic Collaborative: Washtenaw Organic Collaborative - Feedback Survey for 2021
Dear friends
Shannon (of Brines Farm), Kristen (of Raindance Farm), and I (Kim at Slow Farm) have been taking stock of our efforts with the Washtenaw Organic Collaborative (WOC) over the past year and considering the year ahead. To be brief, we would greatly appreciate feedback about your experience with WOC in 2020. This survey linked below should take about 5 minutes to complete and will guide us as we plan for 2021:
WOC FEEDBACK SURVEY LINK HERE—
The longer story is: we started the Washtenaw Organic Collaborative together in the spring of 2020 as a response to the global corona virus pandemic. Although starting this online market was a huge challenge with many unknowns, we wanted to bring the safest food in the safest way to our community. And we joined with others who share our values to create this resource for local food from conscientious producers, with goals of promoting health and strengthening our local food system.
With your support, we persevered and had a successful year in 2020. Now we are ordering seeds and developing crop plans for 2021. With the pandemic still raging, we feel that there is still a need for the Washtenaw Organic Collaborative. We would like your input to develop a closer fit with our community’s needs.
Below is a link to a survey that will help us understand what worked and what could improve for WOC, and will inform us about what to provide in the year ahead. The survey should take about 5 minutes and we would appreciate if you could respond by January 27th. Thank you so much for your participation, love, and support.
WOC FEEDBACK SURVEY LINK HEREChampaign, OH: Sunshine Daydream
Sunshine, daydream, walking in the tall trees
Going where the wind goes
Blooming like a red rose, now come on over sweetly
Ride out singin’, “I got you in the morning sunshine”…
(Grateful Dead)
Good morning, good morning!!
Well, this song is perfect for announcing that it’s rumored we will have some sunshine, today!! Also, when I was young, my mother called me, Mary Sunshine, upon rising because of my very, very dislike of getting up in the mornings. Completely opposite of the adult me. And, I used to sing this to my daughter, in her nursery, when I would get her up in the morning. And, last fun fact…her nursery was decorated in Grateful Dead song verses, one of them being, Sugar Magnolia, with this song, Sunshine Daydream, being one of the verses within Sugar Magnolia. And, at quite a few Dead shows, they would open a set with Sugar Magnolia, work their way all around the songs of that set, and settle back in to end the whole night, with Sunshine Daydream…
Had enough of my sunshine trivia and thoughts??
Okay, also, this serves as your reminder that the market closes for the week in one hour!!! Get your sunshine selves up, get groovy, and get your orders in!!
It’s a great market, again…let’s just blast it with all the sunshine we can!
XOXO,
Cosmic Pam
My Own Metro Market: Available for Saturday January 23
Hello, I hope this finds you all doing well.
While Mother Nature is trying to clear the garden we still have lots of beautiful broccoli florets, baby carrots, delicious mixed kale, super sweet collards, tasty radishes and more. We also picked up our latest round of pork. We have the very best whole hog sausages available. Hot and mild breakfast sausage along with 4 different links; sweet Italian, kielbasa, bratwurst and an old county sausage and not to mention our hens are still laying regularly.
We have added a few important items to the list this week. Our CSA programs help fund our growth and guide us in the direction you want. We are taking reservations for heritage turkeys, heritage hogs, broiler chickens, CSA shares and Egg shares. These items.are generally pre-order.
Yes it is early for turkey talk but they take 7 months to grow and cost a lot of money to raise, if you want one order now so we can plan for it.
Your orders help support our farm and keep us running through the lean winter.
Thank you for all your support and we look forward to seeing you soon,
Brady

Happy Monday, lovely customers of our little local market!! Go ahead, let your orders flow while listening to the different songs that I provide you, right here, on the market. Where it’s not just good food, but also good friendship, good music, and well, also your market manager’s trivia game, each week!
I have to say, your emails were coming fast and furious, yesterday, and I loved that so many of you were playing!!!
We did have a winner who finally came through in the afternoon with their answer…Shary Stadler, of Valley View Woodlands, and also a market customer, shot me the right answer!
Venice Beach was the correct answer to the location of my first apartment when I moved to California!! Venice Beach was a funky place, I lived in a very old school tiny apartment building with a pianist below me who practiced night and day, a group of Chippendales dancers who lived in the building across the street, and practiced their dance moves on the roof of their building, which I was able to view from my terrace. I was near the beach, I was broke, all the darn time, because I was such a junior flight attendant, out there, and a befriended such an eclectic group of pals, and experienced so many west coast lovely vibes. I also befriended a pal who had grandparents with a rent controlled apartment in San Francisco, but were then living in San Diego, so they gave us keys to use it, right in the heart of it all, so we often hopped a plane, and spent the weekends exploring San Francisco.
They were good years in my California life. Adventures, both good and bad.
So, see…with celebrating the market anniversary with my trivia, you also get insight into my journey…
Go, order, and thank you, always, for being a part in paving the way for this market…because like all of our journeys in life, this market has also had it’s own journey…
XOXO,
Cosmic Pam
