Lathemtown Farm Fresh Market:  This Week at the Market

It is Mexican week!! I’m having fun with this and hope you are too!
I’m feeling energized this week with the bit of warm weather and sunshine! I have the seed trays started for flowers, herbs, and lots of greens like spinach, varieties of swiss chard and kale, collards, broccoli, and much more! I am gearing up for a big year with many opportunities for serving my community with the freshest, organically grown fruits, veggies, herbs, canned items, and baked and prepared foods. Hopefully, we will be getting our bee hives too!
Have a great week!
Farmher Chef Amy

https://fayettevillearkansas.locallygrown.net/market.

IMPORTANT NEWS AND NOTES:

WINTER WEATHER IMPACT ON PRODUCE: As you might expect based on snow and ice in January, we don’t have much fresh produce available this week. This will change soon, so don’t give up on us.

NOT ONLINE THIS WEEK: Several of our folks (Dripping Springs, A&A Orchard, and White River Creamery) are out of town or not able to sell online this week. This is temporary.

EGGS: Limited supply. If you see some available, don’t wait to order.

OTHER GOOD THINGS AVAILABLE: Mushrooms, meats, baked goods, honey, tamales, processed products, craft items, locally roasted coffee beans and other goodies ARE available. Hatch Farm is back online this week with fruit jams and more.

PICKUP TIME THURSDAY Feb 9 is 4:30-5:30. Note: if you know that you cannot make it by 5:30 pm, but you want to order this week, just reply to this email or text 479-935-5111 and we will work with you on a plan.

IT’S LESS THAN 10 DAYS UNTIL VALENTINE’S DAY! Remember our art and craft makers if you are thinking about a special someone. Our online market offers some great ideas for gift giving: handmade cards, handcrafted leather goods, locally sewn fabric items, wooden crafts, art prints and more!

All of our bakers have GREAT variety right now—including sweet treats, cookies, pastries, breads, granola and other goodies.

Fresh tamales (meat and vegie) are delivered hot and fresh on Thursday just before pickup. If you don’t feel like cooking on Thursday this is a great option. They can be eaten after pickup or will also keep fine in your frig until you are ready for them.

Special dietary needs? Check out vegan and gluten free baked goods and locally made seitan items. We speak from personal experience that all of these items are delicious and would please anyone no matter what their dietary needs are.

A UNIQUE GIFT: how about a certificate for local knife sharpening services? Can be redeemed at a local drop off location.

SEARCHING TIP: On large categories such as baked goods or meats click on the category to get a drop down of specific items in that category.

HOW TO CHECK ITEMS FROM A PARTICULAR SELLER? Scroll down on left side until you see “show specific growers”. If all the boxes are checked, you can click on “reverse all” then click the boxes on or off of those sellers you want to see. Then click “show specific growers” again.

BUYING TIP: If you see items that you want but not much available, order and pay and then log back in and continue shopping. Your orders will be combined and you will only be charged once.

DELIVERY OPTION IS AVAILABLE FOR FAYETTEVILLE ZIP CODES BUT MUST BE REQUESTED WHEN YOU ORDER OR NO LATER THAN THURS 9 AM.

SNAP CUSTOMERS ONLY: you may choose pay at pickup and bring your EBT card on Thursday. We will swipe your card and match up to $100 of your order. NOTE: please do not bring tokens or match cards to pickup at the online market.

NOTE: New customers and orders always welcome—no minimum order required, no weekly order required.

TIPS:

1) Sellers sometimes add more products later in the ordering period, so be sure to check back. The product list changes each week, even from the same seller, so it’s worth exploring the categories you are interested in.

2) Multiple orders from you at different times will be automatically combined into one order before pickup and you will only be charged once.

PICKUP LOCATION:
The OUTDOOR parking area at the south end of the new part of the Fayetteville Public Library. Follow the line of cars towards the building and stay in your car in line while we get your order.

Thank you for your continued support of the online market.

Foothills Market:  The Market is Open!

The sun is shining today in Foothills Market country, and it’s a little easier to believe spring is on its way!

Last week’s message talked about some of our offerings in sweet spreads, and we’re going to continue that thought this week. We have a new product on the market – Kumquat Marmalade. According to the Ball Blue Book, marmalade is “a soft fruit jelly with small pieces of fruit or peel suspended in the transparent jelly.” Marmalade is often made with citrus, like the version we have on the market this week.

Put together your order between now and Wednesday at 5:00 p.m., and we’ll have it ready for you on Thursday afternoon for pickup.

Eat something fresh this week!

The Wednesday Market:  We're Open! Is Spring on the Way???

Good afternoon.

The Wednesday Market is open for orders. Please place your order by 10 p.m. Monday. Orders are ready for pick up between 2 and 4 p.m. Wednesday. See the website for this week’s product offerings. Here is the link: https://wednesdaymarket.locallygrown.net/market

Will we have an early spring? Earlier this week, the groundhogs made their annual appearances and predictions, and they are not in agreement. The most famous one, Punxsutawney Phil of Pennsylvania, predicts six more weeks of winter. General Beauregard Lee of Dauset Trails in Jackson, Georgia, predicts that we will have an early spring. The official start to spring is March 20, but who knows what the weather will be like on that day? I am thankful to see the sun shining today after the gloomy, misty, and cold week we just came through. By Wednesday and Thursday of this week, weather forecasters say that the highs will be close to 70 degrees. Don’t get too excited, though, as the lows for next weekend will be in the 30s again. For those of us who are chomping at the bits to start planting our gardens, it is still too early! We’ll just have to be content watching the narcissus and daffodils bloom.

Thank you for supporting Georgia Grown. We’ll see you at the Market.

Thanks,

Beverly Walter

Green Acres Atkins:  Good morning
