V.I Prime Produce locally Grown: Market Open
Good morning Prime Produce Market is now open and accepting orders.
Berea Gardens: Market Open
Good Morning,
It seems the weather is going to let us get some good work done this week and the soil temperatures are finally warming enough to promote some actual growth outdoors. Last week the soil was only 61* at 4" deep; a temperature that we usually see in mid-March! It should be 75* at this time of year and the soil temperature is much more important to growth than air temperature.
We still have some nice Brassicas harvested from our high tunnels, but the cucumbers, squash, green beans, beets and other outdoor crops that normally start coming about now are way behind. We will just keep working at it and have them as soon as we can!
Blessings,
Bob & Lynnita

Some Growers News:
East Fork Farm: Luffa
What is a luffa? Think of a “scrubby” used in the shower. Maybe you think of a “sponge”. Luffa is a vegetable and a member of the squash family. When small (about 6") it can be eaten like okra. But at East Fork Farm, we allow them to remain on the vine and grow all summer long until right before the first frost. At that point, they are pulled, dried out, shucked of their outer hard flesh and stripped. This provides long cylindrical shaped sponge to use in many ways. We love our luffa. It has SO many uses. From cleaning your pots, pans and dishes, scrubbing showers, floors, to even a safe chew toy for dogs.
McIntosh Field & Flower: We are so excited to be back in action at the Stones River Market! We farm all of our flowers right here in Murfreesboro and keeping them as local as possible is our goal! We’ve got farm fresh cut flower bunches, gorgeous bright blue edible flowers, and loads of colorful floral confetti in the market this week! The growing season is in full swing after all this great rain and sunshine! Don’t miss out!
Quarter Spring Farm: is very excited to be processing new birds for the spring. We have several cuts back in stock this week, and should have even more on the market next week. We also have our usual collection of skin softening goat’s milk soaps and lotions. They would make a great gifts!
Pinky’s Micros: Microgreens and sprouts are extremely dense in vital enzymes, minerals and vitamins, and chlorophyll. There aren’t many foods you could eat that are fresher. Put them on your sandwich, top your salads with them, or use them in place of lettuce.
Our new Spring Seasonal Chef’s Blend:
Leeks, Dill, Purple Radish, & Golden Pea Shoots.
Every season we’ll be creating new blends to represent each season. Along with Peas, Rose Radish, Broccoli, Basic salad Mix, and Sunflower.
We are also offering our Freshly Juiced Frozen 2oz Wheatgrass Shots or Freshly Cut 4oz Wheatgrass.
Enjoy a dazzling array of new flavors. Plants are at their absolute peak of flavor intensity at this stage of life. They pack 40x more vital nutrients than their mature counterparts. Come check us out!"
Rainbow Hill Farm: We are back with a large selection of starter plants for your home gardens. Tomato, Peppers, Cucumbers, Muskmelon, Brussel Sprouts and more. Plants are in biodegratable cups, you only need to put them in the ground and water.
Shroomegy Gourmet Mushrooms: is growing some beautiful Rocky Top Blue Oysters this week! I replaced the button mushrooms in a Chicken Marsala with my blue oysters, and the flavor was fantastic. We also have some Lion’s Mane available. A great use for Lion’s Mane is to sauté it with butter and garlic. Toss with prepared spaghetti and parmesan cheese.
We are offering house dried, pesticide and chemical free Lion’s Mane powder! Lion’s Mane mushrooms contain bioactive substances that have beneficial effects on the body, especially the brain, heart, and gut. Research is being conducted into their possible effectiveness against dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, neurological disorders, and even depression and anxiety. Add 2 teaspoons of powder to your coffee for a great nutrient boost!
Flying S Farms: We are so happy to be back in ‘the dirt’ again! We have some Produce coming in. This week Broccoli, Swiss Chard, Mixed Kale Bundle, Curly Leaf Lettuce and Hakurei Turnips.
