ALFN Local Food Club: Market Is Open
ALFN Members,
Welcome to another week of fresh produce and local-sourced products. The market is starting to show signs of summer produce with the first appearance of squash this past week from Barnhill. Let’s give Debe from ABC Nature Greenhouse a warm welcome back. I’m so happy to see her mushrooms, plants, herbs and veggies back in the market after the set back from the vandalism of her greenhouse earlier in the spring. Make sure you check out her stuff!
Also, make sure you check out the new listings posted by Crimmins Family Farm. They have twelve new items including lettuce and exotic greens!
Backyard Permaculture III
So the last two posts have been heavy on the theory and framework of permaculture. I always find it helpful to see principles expressed concretely where strategy meets reality. The Verge Permaculture is an urban homestead in Canada that has attempted to integrate permaculture into every inch of the living space. I have linked a video that is the first of three explaining how they integrated permaculture into their home. Instead of reading, enjoy watching this application of permaculture in the urban space.

Siloam Springs, AR: Online Market is Open!
www.siloamsprings.locallygrown.net
We had a GREAT first Kids Day. The weather was breezy and cool and the kids enjoyed themselves immensely! Shout outs to the Siloam Springs Museum and Benton County Master Gardeners for providing fun activities for the kiddos.
We had several new vendors today as well. This and That with hand made jewelry who will be with us on 2nd and 4th Saturdays, Wood Creations with beautiful wooden spoons, trivets, hand made rockers and more will be with us every Saturday, and Rochelle Broglen, Henna and Body Paint artist will be with us every Kids Day.
Our SNAP/EBT machine broke the first day of market but we received notification Friday that new equipment has been shipped! We hope to be offering SNAP again soon.
Tuesday, May 17th is Trucks and Tunes at the Farmers Market. Musician Pat Ryan Key will be playing tunes from 4-6 pm and Yeyos will be serving up some amazing food! This will be a fun gathering if community. Hope to see you there!

This and That
Hi – this is Ros. I don’t know about you but today, Friday the 13th, with a full moon even, has been a FABULOUS day! One of the things that I am so pleased about is how smoothly the Market ran today . . . then I realized that many of you may not be aware of the process that goes into making sure your bag is as close to perfect as we can get it.

In simple terms your vendors do the job of bagging your groceries. You’ve probably noticed the labels – they are a critical part of seeing that the right products go to the right person. Each vendor (myself included – Hortons Farm has printed thousands of labels over the years) tag YOUR item with YOUR label before delivery, then place it in YOUR bag at the Market. And just to be safe we check it off your invoice.
And that’s how it’s done! All of us THANK YOU for allowing us to be a part of your healthy lifestyle and look forward to providing you with more of the BEST produce in the Wiregrass.

Paris Arkansas Farmers Market: New Week, New Market!!!
Hello Market Family!
It’s a new week, and a new season! This marks our first week of 2016 with TWO Farmers markets
The Paris Market will have its big grand opening market this Saturday at 8am on the square!
In addition, on your usual tuesday evening pickup day….we will have vendors available with additional items as well as the items you’ve ordered or reserved online! We will continue the online market all year, as there are many vendors who list items here that are not able to come every week to the live market.
Our tuesday evening market hours will be 4-7. You may come by any time during those hours to pickup online orders and shop for even more wonderful local goods. We hope this will turn into a tuesday evening social time, with great food to eat, wonderful community and maybe even a pint of locally brewed craft beer to enjoy on the sweet little deck at sweet pickins! we will keep you posted on all of the upcoming events!!
In the mean time….enjoy what we have to offer online, and be sure to get your orders in by Sunday at 10pm!
See you on the square!!!
Peace,
PAFM
