Augusta Locally Grown: THE ON-LINE MARKET IS OPEN AT AUGUSTA LOCALLY GROWN
A BITTERSWEET GOODBYE TO OUR INTERNS!
Each year we graduate a few high school interns from our programs and it’s always bitter sweet. This year is particularly teary as we say goodbye to some of the most kind and dedicated young people we’ve ever known. Best wishes to these lovely humans. You’ve made a big difference in our own community, and we know you’ll carry the good food flag with you wherever you go:
- DIANE, graduated as the valedictorian of her class at Greenbrier and is headed to UGA
- ISAAC – graduated from Augusta Christian and is headed to the University of North Georgia
- JASON – graduated from Augusta Christian and is headed to Augusta Tech and the Police Academy
- TABIAS, graduated from ARC and is headed to Georgia Southern
New interns have already been brought aboard and are getting ready to step into these big shoes. We’ll be introducing them to y’all soon!
YOUR SUPPORT IS VERY APPRECIATED:
Hugs to Candace Zukas who has come aboard to help with fundraising for ALG’s nonprofit efforts. In fact, she has launched 3+ programs since starting a few weeks ago! Here’s how you can join in:
- DIMES FOR DIRT – We’re collecting your spare change in mason jars at each of our markets, as well as at Bricko Farm, Southern Made and Grovetown Feed and Seed. All proceeds will help cover the cost of soil for our teaching gardens in Harrisburg. We estimate that one jar will fill 4 beds!
- AMAZON SMILE – Whenever you buy from Amazon, click that extra button that says “Smile” and you’ll be offered a chance to select us as your charity!
- FACEBOOK DONATIONS – Augusta Locally Grown will soon be able to accept your donations through Facebook. Look for the tag soon!

Foothills Market: Market Update - June 9
The market is open to take orders for Saturday pickup.
We have a limited number of blueberries available this week, in part because we are between varieties. The early varieties are beginning to taper off, but the later varieties (Summit and Ozark Blue) don’t have quite enough ripe berries. We hope they will be ready in good quantities by next week.
Our yellow squash and zucchini are beginning to produce well, just as the spring vegetables such as the garden peas are beginning to wane. That’s one of the mixed blessings of gardening – vegetables taste great while they are fresh, but there’s such a short window when they are available!
The market will be open from noon Thursday until 5 p.m. Friday for pick-up at the farmers’ market downtown from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday.
Eat something fresh this week!
