Siloam Springs, AR: Online Market is Open! **M & D Speciaslty Grower Sale**
Make sure you check out the plant sale online! M & D Specialty Growers have decided to focus on growing figs and chestnuts, so they are clearing out the greenhouse by offering reduced prices on all the other plants they offer!
Check out the cheese selection available from White River Creamery. They have added Raw Goat Gouda and more feta to their inventory.
R Family Farm has a great selection of grass fed beef, pastured pork and poultry available.
If you want to make sure you get your favorite baked goods on Saturday be sure to pre-order online!

NEW this week:
Green Fork Farm has tomatoes available this week! Slicers and cherry tomatoes in limited amounts, as well as green tomatoes, squash blossoms and onions.
Green Fork Farm is also offering sweet potato slips for planting this week. These decorative vines are beautiful in flower beds or the vegetable garden, and will produce a lot of sweet potatoes to be harvested in October.
Also available this week:
Vegetables—Tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, collards, kale, green onions, sorrel, potatoes, onions, garlic, and beans.
Honey—Local and delicious.
Herbs—Basil, mint, sage, oregano, fennel, and mixed herb bunches.
Eggs—Pastured, free range chicken and duck eggs.
Meat—Pastured beef, chicken, goat and lamb.
Fermented foods—Sauerkraut, okra, and jalapenos.
Salsa—Made with locally grown and organic ingredients.
Olives and Olive Oil—organic and directly from the grower in California.
Edible flowers— Nasturtium flowers, Nasturtium leaves, and squash blossoms.
Live plants—Sweet potato slips.
Go ahead and place your order, then pick up and pay on Wednesday from 4-7 pm at Nightbird Books in Fayetteville.
If you aren’t able to place an order, stop by to shop with us on Wednesday. We will have a variety of items for sale from the table.

It’s time to enjoy all the great foods of summertime! Cut a cantaloupe in half, scoop out the seeds, and drop in some vanilla ice cream. Delicious dessert in a cantaloupe bowl! Or make a stir fry with several fresh peppers, onions, garlic, and local meat. Served over rice or noodles, it’s sure to please your diners!

YOUR MARKET IS CURRENTLY OPEN.
Now is a great time to order meat for cookouts and other items you need for the week. You can order meat, bread, eggs, milk, vegetables, herbs, freshly roasted coffee, flowers, candles, and more. Consider a made-to-order loaf of English Breakfast Toasting Bread or a half-dozen Jumbo Pretzel Rolls. Both of these breads are made from scratch on market day.
After the fire works fizzle, it is time to start thinking about your Thanksgiving Turkeys. They are available for pre-order from Fountain Springs Farm. There are only a few left to pre-order and the early market gower gets the bird.
Your local market closes at noon on Wednesday. Order now before your favorite items run out.

NEWS AND NOTES
This week Solace Farm has added several types of garlic to the market. White City Produce & Greenhouses has added Swiss chard.
Welcome back to Frontier Family Farms lettuce, after a short break. Michael has also added red potatoes, garlic, and red onions.
We have lots of other delicious spring and summer vegetables available: arugula, beets, carrots, cucumbers, kohlrabi, onions, bell peppers, red potatoes, spinach, yellow squash, and zucchini. Also you will find a great selection of fresh-cut herbs to help to bring out the flavor of those vegetables and your other summer cooking.
Remember that we also have delicious pork and beef cuts, rich creamline milk, organic free-range chicken and duck eggs, jams and jellies, live plants for your perennial border, porch, or patio. Please take note of our great selection of hand crafted farm products, candles, essential oils, and bath & beauty products. Stop by Square Books soon and see our market table, with lots of non-perishable farm products for sale. Pick up some jam or jelly, hand lotion or soap, herbal tea, a candle, or a basket of herb plants to enjoy or to give as a gift.

IMPORTANT ORDERING AND PICKUP INFORMATION
Ordering will be open until TUESDAY at 10 p.m., and your order will be available for pickup on THURSDAY between 4:00 and 5:30 at Square Books, 113 East Main Street, Manchester. We can also hold your order in the refrigerator till Friday, if it’s more convenient for you to pick it up between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm. If you prefer to utilize this free service, please make a note on your order or call my cell at (931) 273-9708. If neither of those pickup times works for you, please make a note on the order, and we will work out an alternative arrangement.

Canning Workshop
The Southern Center for Agroecology and The Root Cafe will be conducting three workshops over the next three months. The first one is next week! Check it out:
Please join us at the Kitchen at Christ Church (509 Scott St, Little Rock, AR, 72201) and learn how to preserve the abundant summer produce of Arkansas! The Root Cafe’s Angela Gardner will share and demonstrate the important steps and subtle nuances of preserving the harvest safely and efficiently so that you can enjoy the delicious flavors of summer all winter long! Sign up today as space is limited for this workshop series brought to you by The Southern Center for Agroecology and The Root Cafe.
There will be three workshops ($35 each):
- July 7, 2016 6-8pm: Salsa Canning — For our first session, we will discuss the tools and basics of water bath canning as well as ways to change the pH to ensure food safety. Using this knowledge, our recipe for the evening will be a sunny summer infused salsa incorporating tomatoes, peppers and peaches.
- August 25, 2016 6-8pm: Pickled Cucumber Canning — A classic Dill Pickle will be the recipe for the evening. Expect to learn tips to keep cukes crunchy and take home a jar of pickles to share with friends.
- September 15, 2016 6-8pm: Fig & Jalapeno Canning — With summer coming to an end we will wrap up our last session with a course on preserves and a discussion on ways to make jams and jellies."
