PICKUP TIME has changed to Wednesdays from 5-6:30pm!
Thank you for choosing Northeast Georgia Locally Grown as a way to support your local producers. This online farmers market allows you to buy directly from multiple farms committed to chemical-free and local produce all year long! CHEMICAL-FREE means produce and pastures grown without synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, or insecticides. LOCAL means within 80 miles from the market pickup locations (usually much much closer). Do you know someone who grows chemical-free food in the area? Get them in touch with us. Know someone who wants fresh food? Spread the word. Put the two together, and that’s growing organically!

Rapini.jpg
Rapini (commonly marketed in the United States as broccoli raab or rabe /r??b/) is a green cruciferous vegetable. The edible parts are the leaves, buds, and stems. The buds somewhat resemble broccoli, but do not form a large head. Rapini is known for its slightly bitter taste and is particularly associated with Italian, Galician, and Portuguese cuisines. Within the Italian tradition, the plant is associated especially with southern Italian cuisines such as those of Ciociaria, Rome, Naples, Campania, and Apulia.
In Italy, broccoli rabe is known by different names: in Naples it is known as friarielli; in Rome broccoletti; in Puglia, cime di rapa (literally meaning “turnip tops”). It is also known as i broccoli friarelli and sometimes broccoli di rape, rapi, or rapini. In Portugal and Spain they are called grelos.
Please have a look at what is available this week and plaace your orders.
Thank you,
David and Betty

Champaign, OH: Linger
If you, if you could return
Don’t let it burn
Don’t let it fade
I’m sure I’m not being rude
But it’s just your attitude
Linger
The Cranberries
So, on this very, very crisp autumn night, I came home, I lit every candle in the house, I poured a glass of wine, and I just let music wash away my day.
It has been a long week, a long few days, the kind of long that at once you feel both never ending, and the speed of light coming at you, in all directions.
Crazy week, crazy people, crazy large deliveries…it was all good, basically. So much to do, so many things to accomplish, so many places to be, so many people to hug/linger over wine with great conversation, great friendship, and then a bit of a scare thrown in while I watched my best friend unfold in an auto accident, two cars ahead of me, on the rainy roads, yesterday…She walked away from the crash that should not have happened. I held my breath until I saw her emerge from the wreckage. Not her fault…the driver went way into her lane, head on. So scary to watch it all happen. All I could do was hug her, hold her, make sure she was all good…
Yes…it’s been a day, a week, a month.
Now, as I sit with a glass of wine, I am watching as we are about to see September glaze over into October, and I see the days changing into splintered sunshine, and the night air grow cooler, and well, I linger…and I think, and I regroup, and I find comfort in this little local market of love.
The place that we all call home, by now. The place where we can all shop, at our leisure, as we linger over the days, the evenings. This market that makes shopping a breeze. Easy, affordable, healthy, and local…
So, get to know us, revisit us, or hello, again, to our loyal regulars. Go ahead…just linger…and then order so that you can return to lingering…
Peace, Love, Good Vibes…
Cosmic Pam

Group Buy: Wild Caught Shrimp
This is the last weekend we will take orders for Ocean to Table, HACCP Certified Wild Caught Georgia Shrimp from St. Simons Island Shrimp Specialist (SISS)!
This product is available for pickup the first Tuesday in October (THIS UPCOMING TUESDAY. OCTOBER 4TH). These shrimp are large (26 count per lb.)“heads-off” shrimp. This is a recurring monthly group buy.
SISS will be offering shrimp are IQF and in frozen block. For the IQF shrimp, you can just reach into bag and grab as many as you need to use. The IQF shrimp are the creme de la creme of shrimp. They are fresh caught and “headed”, then placed into a salt brine tank for 10 min and flash frozen right on the boat to ensure freshness. These IQF shrimp are fresher than fresh, when you thaw them out, it’s like they just came out of the ocean! When you buy fresh shrimp they have already been out of the water and on ice for 24-48 hrs. Fresh shrimp will stay good on ice for up to 3-5 days. The IQF shrimp have a 6 month shelf life.
The frozen shrimp in 5lb blocks are blast frozen (to ensure freshness) and then packaged in our restaurant delivery boxes for your convenience for your freezer. Shelf life up to 2 years. If you would like to thaw out just a few at a time, open box, pull back bag and run COLD water over portion of frozen block until you can get what you need then, close up bag and box and put back in freezer.
These same shrimp sell for $12.99 per pound at our local grocers on the coast of Georgia. If you can find them in the Atlanta area they will be at least $15 per pound. Take advantage of the great price of $9.99 per lb!
I’m looking forward to shrimp scampi, boiled shrimp, grilled shrimp kabobs, shrimp and grits, shrimp jambalaya, shrimp salad, shrimp stock … OK now I’m starting to sound like Bubba from Forest Gump but you get the point!
