Spa City Local Farm Market Co-op:  Reminder

Just a reminder that if you want to order from Arkansas Natural Produce, you’ll need to do so before 9 pm Monday night. Tuesday is the deadline for everything else.

The Herb Square is on vacation this market, returning next market.

And remember, the co-op is like a muscle; If you don’t use it, you’ll lose it. There are lots of fine products for sale even in the mid-winter, and our vendors need our help to make it through the lean months.

So order now to keep our co-op alive as a source for your goat-milk soaps, herbal remedies, organic locally grown vegetables, and grass-fed meats. Our farmers are your neighbors, and we’re here for them.

CLG:  Opening Bell: Beef, Lettuce, Coffee, Honey!

Good afternoon!

We are inching ever closer to spring, and now’s a good time to get ready for your garden. Whether its your first garden, or your 50th garden, we are wishing you the best! We will have lots of vegetable and flower seedlings listed on the market in late March, but here’s a few things you might want to do in the meantime.

Seed Swap this Saturday 11am – 1pm at the Faulkner County Library. With seed saving organizations from all over central Arkansas, as well as area farmers and gardeners in attendance, you will surely find the seeds and know-how you need to grow a bountiful garden this year. The seed library and other helpful resources will also be available.

And this Tuesday at the Library at 6pm, Kim Doughty from Bell Urban Farm is presenting a Seed Starting Workshop with great information for beginner and advanced gardeners.

Lots of Chicken, Pork, and Beef items available now so load up the freezer. And look at the new varieties of Coffee, all roasted just up the road in Rose Bud, Arkansas.

There’s a snake in my boot.

Be sure to SEARCH for your favorite items using the search field. We have over 600 items available now!

Most items are listed by 6pm Sunday, but check back again before the market closes Tuesday night to see if any other items are ready to be harvested for you! Eat fresh! Eat local! Eat for better health!

And save your eggshells throughout the week for the laying hens! :-)

The market is now OPEN for orders. Click here to start shopping:

Please check your email a few minutes after you place your order to make sure you get an order confirmation. Thank you!

Magney Legacy Ridge Farm:  Winter CSA #5

Dear CSA-ers

This week’s online market is now open at (https://magneyfarm.locallygrown.net/market). If you’re receiving this email, we invite you to try it out, even if you have not yet used it this year. The preassembled CSA bag this week will include: Lacinato Kale, Spinach, Red Cross Head Lettuce, Green Onions, Red Mustards, and a Broccoli Head. Remember that you can always add to it, or simply assemble your own bag from scratch. We do ask that if you choose to have your bag delivered, that your order total is at or over $25 after including the $5 delivery fee. Custom locally grown organic vegetable delivery is a unique service that we’ve worked very hard to implement. The parameters we’ve set are the minimums we’ve determined for keeping it cost viable, and we thank you for respecting them.

That said, all 4 of us have put a lot of thought in how to offer some whole season buy-in incentives. These sorts of memberships are valuable to us because they provide the upfront capital to purchase seeds for the year and alleviate some of the pressure of early season payroll while we are putting huge amounts of labor towards planting. For this reason, we are offering two levels of discounted buy-ins for our main season CSA. The first corresponds to a 12 week buy-in at a 5% discount. This option costs $285, and the 5% discount will be applied in the form of an additional $15 credit to your account. The second option corresponds to a 36 week buy-in and costs $720, this is a 20% savings realized through the elimination of the delivery fee from any order you place with us this year. There have also been numerous people who have requested the ability to simply buy-into a season’s worth of preassembled bags like last year. Choosing either of these options and specifying this in the “Notes” on the checkout page will allow us to enroll you in this way. Please note that this main season will begin April 4th. It is likely that we will not offer any delivery or online market during the month of March due to planting and lack of vegetables. If you choose to purchase one of our discounted options now you will still be able to use that balance towards any of your “winter interim” purchases during the next two weeks.

It feels like a lot of fine print, but coming up with the offers and terms for our CSA is just as much a part of farming as putting seeds in the soil. We earnestly strive to deliver you the best value. We want you and your family to thrive through eating our healthy locally grown vegetables. For us, that’s where the feeling of fulfillment comes from. We love being a part of your community, and we thank you so much for your support of our farm!

Sincerely,
The Magney Legacy Ridge Farm Team

Foothills Market:  The Market Is Open!

Every dreary week brings spring that much closer, when the sun will shine and fresh green things will grow. Ah, daydreams…..

But, until then, Foothills Market is trying to fill the gap. There are a few hardy greens that can make it through the colder weather, but quantities are limited, so shop early. Don’t forget to check back later in the the week, though, as growers may update their listings based on how things seem to be growing.

We also still have plenty of fresh, locally-grown meat – beef, pork, and lamb – and eggs. And some fresh, homemade baked goods might be just the thing for a dreary winter day.

Shop the market between now and 5:00 p.m. Wednesday. Click the “Place your order” button to complete your order, and we’ll have your items ready for pickup on Thursday afternoon.

Eat something fresh this week!
