Growing Together : Offerings for June 27th Pick Up
Happy “official” summer to all of you!
We’ve got the great seasonal crossover happening right now – some of the best and last of the spring crops (carrots, beets, cabbage, herbs, greens) with some of the excitement of the summer crops creeping in! Check out the thai, purple, and Genovese basil varieties we have available, as well as squash, zucchini, and the first eggplant! Mixing spring crops with these yummy summer ones can create meals like pasta salads, slaws, and big, clean-out-the-fridge chopped salads!
We’re also very excited about the first of our roselle leaves comming in! Roselle, or hibiscus leaves, have a zingy, citrusy flavor. In many parts of the world, these greens are cooked, though they can also be eaten raw in salads and add a really pleasant citrus flavor. We recommend this recipe for Stir-Fried Roselle Leaves, also known as Chin Baung Kyaw in Burmese.
As always, we’d love to hear from you about what we’re doing well and what we could be doing better!
Lastly, if you’ve been enjoying your vegetables from Growing Together, we’d love for you to consider purchasing a Fall CSA share! The Fall CSA runs for 8 weeks and is a way to support a Growing Together farmer by providing an upfront investment in their work. In return, each customer gets a share of the farmer’s vegetables each week during the CSA season. Check out our website for more information about the Fall CSA.
We are so grateful for your support!
