Want to change your pickup time? The purpose of the time slots is to try to achieve an even flow so nobody has to wait too long. But we want this to be convenient for you: if you need to change your time slot or location, please text 912.481.2263, tell us the ORDER NAME and the TIME you would like to pick up. We will even assign you some “bonus time” if you need to come after 6:30. Just let us know so we can make sure your order is in the right place at the right time.
THE DRIVE-THROUGH PROCEDURE at the SCVB.
- Drive to the right (counter clockwise) all the way around the SCVB, keeping to the outer perimeter and maintaining a tight queue. A volunteer will check you in as you come around the far side of the building..
- Please display the name(s) for your order(s) on a windshield placard to assist in quick and safe check-in.
- Please wear a mask while communicating with market staff.
- Provide access to your vehicle and to the containers you want loaded (bags, boxes, bins or coolers); unlock the back door or the trunk, with containers inside.
- We recommend that you bring a cooler for transporting meat, dairy and perishable items. Ice cream melts, even in a short car trip, and our fresh non-homogenized milk is temperature sensitive.
- Wait in your car for the runner to come out with your order and load into your containers. Make sure your name placard is visible.
- If you did not prepay on line with a debit or credit card, please make a check for exact amount when your order is delivered. (You may pay cash in exact amount, but any “change” from cash received will be credited to your account. Use an envelope to label the cash payment with your order name.)

Champaign, OH: You Belong Among The Wildflowers
You belong among the wildflowers
You belong in a boat out at sea
Sail away, kill off the hours
You belong somewhere you feel free…
(Tom Petty)
This song is never not beautiful to me, with so many meanings, for whichever you are listening to find.
This is just my Wednesday love note to first, thank you all for your incredible love, this week, and second to tell you that I am going to be very daring, very wild, and forgo the time slots!!!!
I feel that we now have a handle on the market size, and some of the early season items like all of the garden plants, have left us for the season, so it’s easier to streamline all of your orders. BUT WE DO MISS THE PLANTS!!
Anyway…you can all be wildflowers, tomorrow, and pick your own time between 4pm-6pm…OR…pick a Friday time between 10-12!! But, please let me know if you are going to be a Friday customer!
There you go, wild ones…it’s all about you!
You belong among the wildflowers…
XOXO,
Cosmic Pam

Martin's Farmstand: Still more berries U-pick Wednesday July 1
As I walked the fields this evening I was eating strawberries. There are only a few things in this world better than those little very ripe strawberries late in the season. They are so rich flavored and sweet. We are opening tomorrow afternoon (Wednesday July 1) at 2 pm for u-pick and again on Saturday July 4th at 7 am. This is the late part of strawberry season. I am am impressed at how well the patch is holding up. They are small as is normal towards the end of season but some areas have them laying in by the handfuls. These very ripe berries need to be picked in the next day or so or we will lose them. We need many hands to get this task done. Come and help pick.
The picking pattern we are using is a random one to allow for the best possible social distancing. I do not care which patch you pick in or where you start even if it is smack in the middle somewhere. What I do care about is that you give other groups of pickers reasonable space and that wherever you start picking that you pick all the ripe berries that are in the section of row you work. A section of row needs to be either picked clean or it should not be picked at all. Roaming, grazing type picking is not OK. We will be keeping track of which parts of the patch have ripe berries and be helping incoming pickers find good spots throughout the day. Daniel

Market News
Happy 4th of July! We are open this week, though a few of our vendors are taking the holiday off. The market is chock full of summer vegetables, exactly what you need to celebrate the holiday weekend deliciously.
Talking Rock HoneyBee Farm says that the honey listed here on the market is the last they will have available anywhere until the sourwood honey comes in. If you’ve held off on ordering, best to get your honey order in while you can.
When you pick up your copy of the July issue of Smoke Signals, look for an article about Big Canoe Harvest! We’re excited to expand our market throughout the community, and we are deeply grateful to each and every one of you who have shared your experiences, both in person and on Facebook.
Please remember as you order that per the POA’s instructions, we cannot leave your food unattended. If you need us to deliver to your neighbor or slip your order inside your house, please be sure to tell us in the comments so we can make sure your order gets to you safely!
If you have other suggestion about how we can continue to make deliveries without being able to leave products unattended, we’d love to hear them. We’re still developing the best ways to get your orders to you, and we welcome any of your ideas.
As always, if you enjoy being a member of Big Canoe Harvest, tell your friends! The more the market grows, the more additional vendors and products we’ll be able to include. As always, your feedback help shapes the market. Let us know what you think about the Big Canoe Harvest products.
Have a wonderful week, and we’ll see you Saturday!
Whitney and Eddy
We thank you for your interest and support of our efforts to bring you the healthiest, the freshest and the most delicious locally-produced foods possible!
