Old99Farm Market: Old 99 farm, week of Jan 9 2017\
Mostly a reminder, not exciting you with choice internet finds about climate, trump or trudeau!
Winter meals are long on comfort foods: stews, mashed potatoes, leek soup, etc. We have lots for you in that department.
A friend has several 20 lb turkeys for sale at $60 each. That’s a good price for conventionally fed birds. Send me a note if you are interested.Healthy eating

Miami County Locally Grown: Tonight's featured vendor? A Taste of Sugar Bakery!!
Our first featured vendor of the year – Kayley Roe, A Taste of Sugar Bakery!
The mother of five children, Kayley began her bakery business for the convenience – needing to both stay home, yet contribute to her young family’s income. Her husband was clearly proud of his hard working wife… she may have always loved baking, but according to him, “it helps that she’s so good at it!”
And it certainly helps to have so many in-house taste testers… children are always willing, and ALWAYS honest, whether we like it or not!
Kayley started her business at area farmer’s markets and taking orders for cake pops, a neat idea borrowed from a popular national coffeehouse chain. She was actually preparing a gorgeous order of cake pops for a wedding when we chatted. As she worked, I kept watching her thinking those beautiful bite-size desserts would be great for a party or event, and how kids in particular would love them. And I told my husband I knew I needed to get out more, as Kayley couldn’t believe I’d never heard of a cake pop!
Enjoying the presentation of baking, Kayley finds it fun to let loose her artistic side, relishing the creativity her baking allows. Candies, cookies, granola bars, muffins, even gluten-free… and I think baking just for my own family is a lot of work!
I hope my 13-year-old would emphatically explain to a stranger, “It seems like my mom works 24 hours a day,” as Kayley’s son told me – he has every reason to be proud of his dedicated and inspired Momma!
